本願は、2012年12月19日に出願された米国仮特許出願第61/739,119号に基づく利益を主張し、その全内容は参照により本明細書に援用されている。

ジシクロペンタジエンを式(II)の化合物
CR2R3=CR1−(CH2)n−R (II)
(式中、
Rは、−OCOC1〜C6アルキル、−CHO、−CN、−OC1〜C6アルキル、−OCH2Ph、−OSO2R4(式中、R4はC1〜C4アルキルまたはC6〜C12アリールである)である)
と適切な温度および条件で反応させて、式(III)の化合物
式(III)の化合物に適切な変換(transformation)反応を行って式(I)の化合物を生成する工程;
を含む方法が提供される。
式(I)の化合物を、式(IV)のシラン
R5R6R7SiH (IV)
(式中、R5、R6およびR7は、それぞれ互いに独立して、メチル、エチル、または直鎖もしくは分岐鎖のC3〜C9アルキルであるか、または置換もしくは非置換のC6〜C14アリールである)
および適切な触媒と反応させて、式(V)の化合物
その生成した式(IIIB)のノルボルネンメチルアセテートを蒸留する工程;および
上記蒸留したノルボルネンメチルアセテート(IIIB)のエステル交換反応をメタノールおよびナトリウムメトキシドの存在下、約40℃〜約50℃の温度で行い、少なくとも99.8%の純度のノルボルネンメタノール(IB)を生成する工程;を含む。本方法において、水素化されたノルボルネンメタノール、すなわち、ノルボルナンメタノール(NBaneCH2OH)は生成しない。
上記ノルボルネンメチルアセテート(IIIB)のエステル交換反応を、メタノールおよびナトリウムメトキシドの存在下、約40℃〜約50℃の温度で行い、ノルボルネンメタノール(IB)
上記ノルボルネンメタノール(IB)をメチルジフェニルシランと、適切な溶媒およびカリウムtert−ブトキシドの存在下で反応させて、少なくとも99.5%の純度の(ビシクロ[2.2.1]ヘプタ−5−エン−2−イルメトキシ)(メチル)ジフェニルシラン(VB)を得る工程;を含む。

適切な高圧管型反応器に、酢酸アリルおよびジシクロペンタジエン(DCPD)を、シクロペンタジエンモノマーを基準として4:1のモル比で投入した。これを220℃に維持した熱油浴で加熱し、その温度に4時間維持した。反応終了時点で、上記高圧管を浴から取り出し、湿潤氷浴(wet ice bath)で急冷した。次いで、上記管をメタノールおよびジクロロメタンで洗浄し、秤量して漏れのないことを確認した。得られた粗モノマー試料をGC−MSで分析した。その結果、未反応の酢酸アリル 約7.5%、exo−/endo−ノルボルネンメタノール 10%、exo−/endo−ノルボルネンメチルアセテート 82%、(1,2,3,4,4a,5,8,8a−オクタヒドロ−1,4:5,8−ジメタノナフタレン−2−イル)メタノール 0.6%であることがわかった。上記の粗混合物を分留すると、純度>99.6%超のノルボルネンメチルアセテートが単離された。
Exo−/Endo−ノルボルネンメタノール
適切なサイズのジャケット付き反応器に、exo−/endo−ノルボルネンメチルアセテート(純度≧99.6%、4.8kg)とメタノール(11.2kg)との混合物を投入した。上記反応器は、撹拌機、塔頂コンデンサ、塔頂凝縮液受け槽および定量ポンプ付き供給槽を備える。上記反応器の温度は、専用のオイル循環装置で制御した。反応器圧力は手動で制御し、昇圧は窒素の添加により、降圧は排気(vent takeoff)により行った。
Exo−/Endo−(ノルボルネニルメトキシ)(メチル)ジフェニルシラン(NBMeOSiPh2Me)
機械式撹拌機、滴下漏斗、窒素導入管およびサーモウェルを備えた適切なサイズのフラスコに、ノルボルネンメタノール(NBMeOH、99g、0.797mol)を投入した。無水THF(300ml)をシリンジでフラスコに入れた後、撹拌を開始した。カリウムt−ブトキシド(3.3g、0.029mol)を添加した。カリウムt−ブトキシドがすべて溶解して黄色の溶液が得られたら、反応フラスコの下に水浴を設置した。ジフェニルメチルシラン(150.3g、0.756mol)を滴下した。約10分後、水素の発生が始まり、反応温度が23℃から25℃に上昇した。穏やかな水素発生が維持されるように、ジフェニルメチルシランを一定の滴下速度で添加した。添加は約50分後に終了した。反応温度は30℃に上昇した。1分以内に、水素発生が急停止し、反応温度は26℃に急速に低下した。GC分析から、NBMeOH 2.3%およびNBMeOSiPh2Me 97.1%であることがわかった。ジフェニルメチルシランは検出されなかった。反応混合物をさらに15分、25℃で撹拌した後、飽和塩化アンモニウム水溶液80mlを添加した。十分に混合し、メチル−tert−ブチルエーテル(MTBE)で洗浄した後、相を分離した。水相のpHは8であった。有機部分を2×80mlの飽和食塩水で洗浄するとpH10になった。有機部分を再度80mlの飽和塩化アンモニウム水溶液でpH8になるまで洗浄した。次いで、80mlの飽和食塩水で洗浄するとpH7〜8になった。有機部分を硫酸ナトリウムで乾燥し、濾過し、ロータリーエバポレータで蒸留すると、濁った無色の液体248.5gが得られた。GC分析から、NBMeOH 2.9%、Ph2MeSiOH 1.0%、Ph2MeSiO−t−Bu 1.0%、NBMeOSiPh2Me 95.7%、Ph2MeSiOSiMePh2 0.1%であることがわかった。
比較例1〜5は、アルケノールとCPDを反応させると、表1に要約するように、かなりの量の副生成物が生成することを示している。とりわけ注目すべきは、比較例1〜5の各々では、水素化された生成物であるノルボルナンアルカノールが生成した点である。
a)勾配:10℃/分で45℃〜120℃、その後40℃/分で300℃に加熱、300℃で2分保持。この加熱プロファイルは、比較例2〜5で使用した。
b)勾配:40℃で5分間保持した後、40℃/分で300℃に加熱、300℃で5分保持。この加熱プロファイルは、比較例1で使用した。
比較例6〜7は、メタノールやイソプロパノールなどのアルコールとCPDを反応させると、おそらくは水素移動反応により、水素化反応も起こることを示している。結果を表2に要約する。
比較例8〜10は、メタノールやイソプロパノールなどのアルコールとノルボルネンまたはノルボルナジエンを反応させると、おそらくは水素移動反応により、水素化反応も起こることを示している。
a)勾配:10℃で/分で45℃〜120℃、その後40℃/分で300℃に加熱、300℃で2分保持。この加熱プロファイルは、比較例8および9で使用した。
b)勾配:40℃で5分間保持した後、40℃/分で300℃に加熱、300℃で5分保持。この加熱プロファイルは、比較例10で使用した。
Claims (18)
- 式(I)の化合物
nは、両端値を含む1〜10の整数であり、(CH 2 ) n におけるCH2の1つ以上はC1〜C10アルキルまたはC1〜C10パーフルオロアルキルで任意に置換されていてもよく;
mは、両端値を含む0〜2の整数であり;
R1、R2およびR3は、同じであるかまたは異なり、水素、ハロゲン、メチル、エチル、直鎖または分岐鎖のC3〜C12アルキル、C3〜C12シクロアルキル、C6〜C12ビシクロアルキル、C7〜C14トリシクロアルキル、C6〜C10アリール、C6〜C10アリールC1〜C3アルキル、C5〜C10ヘテロアリール、C5〜C10ヘテロアリールC1〜C3アルキル、C1〜C12アルコキシ、C3〜C12シクロアルコキシ、C6〜C12ビシクロアルコキシ、C7〜C14トリシクロアルコキシ、C6〜C10アリールオキシC1〜C3アルキル、C5〜C10ヘテロアリールオキシC1〜C3アルキル、C6〜C10アリールオキシ、C5〜C10ヘテロアリールオキシおよびC1〜C6アシルオキシから互いに独立して選択される)
の製造方法であって:
シクロペンタジエンを式(II)の化合物
CR2R3=CR1−(CH2)n−R (II)
(式中、Rは、−OCOC1〜C6アルキルである)
と適切な温度および条件で反応させて、式(III)の化合物
式(III)の化合物を触媒の存在下で適切なエステル交換剤と反応させて、前記式(I)の化合物を生成する工程;
を含む、方法。 - 前記式(I)の化合物を少なくとも99%の純度で製造する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記式(I)の化合物を少なくとも99.8%の純度で製造する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- nが1であり、RがCH3C(O)Oであり、かつR1、R2およびR3がそれぞれ水素である、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも99%の純度のexo−/endo−ノルボルネンメタノールを製造する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記エステル交換剤がアルコールであり、かつ前記触媒が塩基である、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記アルコールがメタノールであり、かつ前記塩基がナトリウムメトキシドである、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記エステル交換剤がアルコールであり、かつ前記触媒が酸である、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記アルコールがメタノールであり、かつ前記酸が硫酸またはアルカンスルホン酸である、請求項8に記載の方法。
- nが1であり、R1、R2およびR3がそれぞれ水素であり、R5がメチルであり、かつR6およびR7がそれぞれフェニルである、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記式(V)の化合物を得る工程において使用される前記触媒が塩基である、請求項10または11に記載の方法。
- 前記式(V)の化合物を得る工程において使用される前記触媒がカリウムtert−ブトキシドである、請求項10または11に記載の方法。
- 前記式(V)の化合物を少なくとも99%の純度で製造する、請求項10から13のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記式(V)の化合物を少なくとも99.5%の純度で製造する、請求項10から13のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも99.8%の純度の(ビシクロ[2.2.1]ヘプタ−5−エン−2−イルメトキシ)(メチル)ジフェニルシランを製造する、請求項10から13のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 式(VB)の(ビシクロ[2.2.1]ヘプタ−5−エン−2−イルメトキシ)(メチル)ジフェニルシラン
シクロペンタジエンを酢酸アリルと200℃〜240℃の温度で十分な時間反応させて、式(IIIB)のノルボルネンメチルアセテート
前記ノルボルネンメチルアセテート(IIIB)のエステル交換反応を、メタノールおよびナトリウムメトキシドの存在下、40℃〜50℃の温度で行って、ノルボルネンメタノール(IB)
前記ノルボルネンメタノール(IB)をメチルジフェニルシランと、適切な溶媒およびカリウムtert−ブトキシドの存在下で反応させて、少なくとも99.5%の純度の(ビシクロ[2.2.1]ヘプタ−5−エン−2−イルメトキシ)(メチル)ジフェニルシラン(VB)を得る工程;
を含む、方法。
