Claims (10)
- 筒状の触媒担体と前記触媒担体を収容するケーシングとの間隙に備えられる触媒コンバータ用保持材であって、
1000℃における加熱収縮率が1%以下である第一の無機繊維によって構成される保持部と、
前記保持部と隣り合って配置され、1000℃における加熱収縮率が1%を超える第二の無機繊維によって構成される断熱部と、
を備えることを特徴とする触媒コンバータ用保持材。 - 1000℃における加熱収縮率が1%以下である前記第一の無機繊維は、アルミナ繊維、ムライト繊維、及びこれらの混合繊維からなる群より選択される、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の触媒コンバータ用保持材。 - 1000℃における加熱収縮率が1%以下である前記第一の無機繊維は、アルミノシリケート繊維、シリカ繊維、溶解性繊維、及びこれら二種以上の混合繊維からなる群より選択される繊維を熱処理し、加熱収縮させた繊維である、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の触媒コンバータ用保持材。 - 1000℃における加熱収縮率が1%を超える前記第二の無機繊維は、ガラス繊維、ロックウール、アルミノシリケート繊維、シリカ繊維、溶解性繊維、及びこれら二種以上の混合繊維からなる群より選択される、
ことを特徴とする請求項1乃至3いずれか一項に記載の触媒コンバータ用保持材。 - 前記断熱部と前記触媒担体の外側面との間に配置される、保護部をさらに備える、
ことを特徴とする請求項1乃至4いずれか一項に記載の触媒コンバータ用保持材。 - 前記保護部は、1000℃における加熱収縮率が1%以下である第三の無機繊維によって構成される、
ことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の触媒コンバータ用保持材。 - 1000℃における加熱収縮率が1%以下である前記第三の無機繊維は、アルミナ繊維、ムライト繊維、及びこれらの混合繊維からなる群より選択される、
ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の触媒コンバータ用保持材。 - 1000℃における加熱収縮率が1%以下である前記第三の無機繊維は、アルミノシリケート繊維、シリカ繊維、溶解性繊維、及びこれら二種以上の混合繊維からなる群より選択される繊維を熱処理し、加熱収縮させた繊維である、
ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の触媒コンバータ用保持材。 - 前記断熱部が前記保護部に覆われる、
ことを特徴とする請求項5乃至8いずれか一項に記載の触媒コンバータ用保持材。 - 1000℃における加熱収縮率が1%を超える第二の無機繊維によって構成される断熱部を得る工程と、
前記断熱部を得る工程とは別に、1000℃における加熱収縮率が1%以下である第一の無機繊維を含むスラリーを調製するスラリー調製工程と、
前記断熱部をモールド内に配置した後、前記モールド内に配置された前記断熱部を覆うように前記スラリー調製工程にて調製した前記スラリーを配置し、脱水成形して前記断熱部が前記第一の無機繊維に覆われた複合マットを得る工程と、
得られた前記複合マットを乾燥する工程と、
を含むことを特徴とする触媒コンバータ用保持材の製造方法。
