Description
本発明の一実施形態による燃料電池用高分子膜組成物は、陽イオン交換基及び炭素二重結合含有架橋基を含む高分子、陽イオン交換基を含む(メタ)アクリル系化合物、及び重合開始剤を含む。
本発明の一実施形態による燃料電池用高分子膜組成物は、陽イオン交換基及び炭素二重結合含有架橋基を含む高分子を含む。前記高分子は、高分子膜組成物の主材料に相当する。
(メタ)アクリル系化合物は、陽イオン交換基及び(メタ)アクリロイル基を含む化合物を意味する。
前記燃料電池用高分子膜を製造するために、紫外線(UV)架橋工程や熱架橋工程を適用することができる。したがって、前記燃料電池用高分子膜組成物は、架橋工程の種類によって、紫外線架橋工程を適用する場合には紫外線重合開始剤をさらに含むことができ、熱架橋工程を適用する場合には熱重合開始剤をさらに含むことができる。
前記高分子膜組成物において、前記高分子及び前記(メタ)アクリル系化合物の重合反応のために紫外線重合反応を行う場合には、紫外線の照射時にラジカルを生成する紫外線重合開始剤がさらに必要である。
前記高分子膜組成物において、前記高分子及び前記(メタ)アクリル系化合物の重合反応のために熱重合反応を行う場合には、熱を加えた時にラジカルを生成する熱重合開始剤がさらに必要である。
以下、前記陽イオン交換基及び炭素二重結合含有架橋基を含む高分子の製造方法を説明する。
次に、前記高分子膜組成物を使用した燃料電池用高分子膜の製造方法を説明する。前記高分子膜組成物を使用した燃料電池用高分子膜の製造方法は、紫外線架橋工程または熱架橋工程によって行われうる。
本発明の一実施形態によるMEAは、例えば、前記燃料電池用高分子膜の両面にカソード及びアノードの各触媒層をコーティングして触媒被覆膜(CCM)を作製し、前記CCMの両面にガス拡散層(GDL)を接合させて製造することができる。
上記のように調製された燃料電池用MEA及びバイポーラプレートが結合されて燃料電池の単電池が構成される。
4,4’−ジクロロジフェニルスルホン(4,4’−dichlorodiphenyl sulfone:DCDPS)、スルホン化4,4’−ジクロロジフェニルスルホン(sulfonated 4,4’−dichlorodiphenyl sulfone:S−DCDPS、ナトリウム塩の形態)、ビスフェノール−A(BPA)、及びジアリルビスフェノール−A(DABPA)を下記の表1に示す含有量でN−メチルピロリドン(NMP)120ml及びトルエン100mlに溶解させ、ここに炭酸カリウム0.5モルを添加し、これを180℃で8時間反応させて、陽イオン交換基及び炭素二重結合含有架橋基を有する高分子として、前記化学式3の構造を有するポリアリールエーテルスルホン(DA−PAES)を調製した(数平均分子量(Mn)=600,000)。
(メタ)アクリル系化合物として3−スルホプロピルアクリレート(SPA)10質量部を溶媒であるDMSO80質量部に溶解させたことを除いては、実施例1と同様な方法で燃料電池用高分子膜を調製した。
高分子の合成時に、ジアリルビスフェノール−A(DABPA)を使用せずにビスフェノール−A(BPA)だけを0.5モルで使用して、実施例1と同様な方法で架橋基を含まないポリアリールエーテルスルホン(PAES)高分子を合成した。高分子膜組成物の製造時に、(メタ)アクリル系化合物及び紫外線重合開始剤を投入せずに架橋基を含まないポリアリールエーテルスルホン(PAES)だけをDMSOに溶解して、コーティング組成物を製造した。高分子膜の製造時に紫外線照射工程を行わないことを除いては、実施例1と同様な方法で燃料電池用高分子膜を製造した。
(1)メタノール透過率(Permeability)
水保存部(reservoir)及び1M濃度のMeOH保存部から構成された拡散セルを利用して、常温でMeOH保存部側から水保存部側に拡散するMeOHの単位時間当りのモル濃度の変化(dC/dt)を測定して、下記の数式1のように計算して、MeOH透過率(permeability)Pを測定した。
四端子(4−point probe)法を利用して測定装置を脱イオン水に浸漬した後、常温条件でインピーダンスアナライザを用いて測定した。インピーダンスグラフの複素平面で実数軸を通過する点の値が高分子膜の抵抗値であり、これを利用してイオン伝導度σを求めた。図5のインピーダンスグラフでは、実施例1、2、及び比較例1によって調製された高分子膜のインピーダンスを測定した結果を示した。グラフの横軸及び縦軸は各々インピーダンスの実数部及び虚数部の抵抗Z’、Z”(Ω)に高分子膜の厚さt(μm)を乗じた値である。
高分子膜の機械的物性をInstron社製の引張試験器で測定した。前記高分子膜の試片は、乾燥した後で幅5mm、長さ30mmに作製され、試片を支持する両側のグリップ間の間隔を10mm、試片を引張る速度を50mm/minに設定して、引張強度及び延伸率を測定した。図6は実施例1、2、及び比較例1によって調製された高分子膜の引張強度(N/mm)及び延伸率(%)を測定した結果を示したものである。
前記実施例1、実施例2、及び比較例1で調製した高分子膜の一方の表面にPtRuブラック触媒(HiSpec6000、Johnson Matthey社製)スラリーをバーコーティングした後で乾燥して、PtRuが2mg/cm2であるアノード触媒層を調製した。次いで、前記高分子膜の他の表面にPtブラック触媒(HiSpec1000、Johnson Matthey社製)スラリーをバーコーティングした後で乾燥して、Ptが2mg/cm2のカソード触媒層を塗布することによって、電極面積10cm2の触媒被覆膜(CCM)を作製した。この時、高分子膜の一面に触媒層をコーティングする間に高分子膜の反対面に真空を加えて、コーティングする間に高分子膜に膨潤によってシワができないようにした。前記CCMの両面に各々ガス拡散層(25BC、SGL社製)を2段階の熱間圧縮(Hot−Pressing)工程によって接合してMEAを作製した。前記2段階の工程は、まず0.5トンで1分間圧縮した後、1トンで3分間圧縮することによって行われた。

Claims (14)
- 陽イオン交換基及び炭素二重結合含有架橋基を含む高分子、陽イオン交換基を含む(メタ)アクリル系化合物、ならびに重合開始剤を含み、
前記高分子は、下記化学式2で表される高分子である、燃料電池用高分子膜組成物。
- 前記高分子中の前記陽イオン交換基の含有量は、0.3〜2.5mmol/gである、請求項1に記載の燃料電池用高分子膜組成物。
- 前記高分子中の前記炭素二重結合含有架橋基の含有量は、0.1〜3.0mmol/gである、請求項1または2に記載の燃料電池用高分子膜組成物。
- 前記高分子の数平均分子量(Mn)は、100,000〜1,500,000である、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の燃料電池用高分子膜組成物。
- 前記(メタ)アクリル系化合物は、下記化学式4、化学式5、化学式6で表される化合物、およびこれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の燃料電池用高分子膜組成物。
- 前記(メタ)アクリル系化合物は、スルホン化(メタ)アクリル系化合物である、請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の燃料電池用高分子膜組成物。
- 前記(メタ)アクリル系化合物は、3−スルホプロピルアクリレート、3−スルホプロピルメタクリレート、および2−アクリルアミノ−2−メチルプロパンスルホン酸からなる群から選択される1以上である、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の燃料電池用高分子膜組成物。
- 前記(メタ)アクリル系化合物は、前記高分子100質量部に対して1〜30質量部で含まれる、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の燃料電池用高分子膜組成物。
- 前記(メタ)アクリル系化合物は、前記高分子100質量部に対して1〜20質量部で含まれる、請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の燃料電池用高分子膜組成物。
- 前記重合開始剤は、紫外線重合開始剤または熱重合開始剤である、請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の燃料電池用高分子膜組成物。
- 前記重合開始剤は、前記高分子及び前記(メタ)アクリル系化合物の総含有量100質量部に対して1〜10質量部で含まれる、請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の燃料電池用高分子膜組成物。
- 請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の燃料電池用高分子膜組成物を用いて製造され、陽イオン交換基及び炭素二重結合含有架橋基を含む高分子と陽イオン交換基を含む(メタ)アクリル系化合物との架橋反応によって生成された架橋重合体を含む、燃料電池用高分子膜。
- 請求項12に記載の燃料電池用高分子膜;および前記燃料電池用高分子膜の両面に配置された電極;を含み、前記電極は、触媒層及びガス拡散層を含む、膜−電極接合体。
- 請求項13に記載の膜−電極接合体;及び前記膜−電極接合体の両面に配置されたバイポーラプレートを含む、燃料電池。
