HS/PB/EVOH1/EVOH2/EVOH1/EVOH2/結合層/HS、
ここで、HS(heat−sealable)とはヒートシール可能な層をいい、PB(紙、板紙)とは基材層をいい、結合層とはバインダーをいう。省略形EVOH1及びEVOH2とは、エチレンモノマー含量が互いに異なる(例えば、表1に従う組み合わせである)自由に選択された二種のエチレンビニル共重合体をいう。
試験において、包装用材料の試料は、空気の湿度の、酸素透過速度(O2TR)に対する影響を評価するため、異なる相対湿度条件で保存された。試料には、厚さが異なる32モル%EVOHの層を備えるEnsobarr社の厚紙試料と、図10及び図11の構造に対応する、異なる層における32モル%のEVOH及び44モル%のEVOHを備える同社の厚紙試料とが含まれていた。Ensobarrは、以下のサンドウィッチ構造:PE/板紙/EVOH/結合層/PEを有する市販の包装用材料であり、ここでPEはポリエチレンであり、板紙は基材層であり、結合層は、バインダー層である。(23℃の温度かつ50%の相対湿度での)開始時の試料の基材重量、EVOH層の厚さ、エチレンモノマー含量及び酸素透過性を、表1に示す。
実施例1の試験に対応した測定を23℃の温度かつ85%の相対湿度で実行した。これらの条件では、最も薄い32モル%のEVOH層を有する試料1では、数週間の保存の後にすでにこの値を越えていた。より厚い層と同一のポリマーを含有する試料は、4週間の保存の間、この限界値未満の酸素透過性を維持したが、この値は、8週間の保存の後、より大きくなった。その代わりに、本発明の試料3は、4〜7週の保存の間、酸素バリアー性に優れた材料としての等級を維持した。結果を、表3に示す。
包装用材料の熱帯性条件での耐久性を評価するために、相対湿度を90%にまで、温度を38℃にまで上昇させた。このような条件では、全ての試料は、1週間の保存後にその特性を失った。本発明の試料の酸素透過性が、10cm3/m2/日未満だけ標的値に不足したとはいえ、本発明の試料の酸素透過性は、先行技術の試料の酸素透過性の半分であった。デバイスの検出精度を超えたので、これらの結果は示さない。
本発明の包装用材料は、押し出しによって板紙と板紙の表面のポリマー層とをサンドウィッチすることにより製造された。その構造を図11に示す。ここで、サンドウィッチ構造を横断する方向のクロスカットは、実施形態における層の配置及びいくつかの層の厚さを示している。クロスカットの構造は、最も外側のヒートシール可能な層12が基材層11に結合されていないことを除き、図10で概略的に示したものと同様である。層の配置及び構造から測定される層の厚さは、以下の通りである。すなわち、板紙(特定されず)、EVOH44%(4μm)、EVOH32%(7μM)、バインダー(4μm)、ポリエチレン(約40μm)。ガスバリアー特性に対して有利な効果を有する2つのEVOH層間の界面は、図中に見ることもできる。

Claims (11)
- 繊維性材料の基材層、酸素バリアーを形成するポリマー層、及び少なくとも一層のポリマーヒートシール可能層を有する、ポリマー被覆されたヒートシール可能な包装用材料であって、
前記酸素バリアーを提供するために、エチレンモノマー含量の異なるエチレンビニルアルコール共重合体(EVOH)の層を少なくとも2層有し、
前記EVOH層のそれぞれが、3〜10g/m 2 の重量を有し、
前記EVOH層が、間に結合層なしに、互いに直接配置され、
前記EVOH層が、繊維性材料の基材層に直接配置されていることを特徴とする包装用材料。 - 前記包装材料の少なくとも片側では、最外層のポリマーヒートシール可能層を有することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の包装用材料。
- 前記包装材料の両側で、最外層のポリマーヒートシール可能層を有することを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載の包装用材料。
- 前記エチレンモノマーの割合がより少ないEVOH層が、32モル%以下のエチレンモノマーを含有することを特徴とする、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の包装用材料。
- 前記エチレンモノマーの割合がより高いEVOH層が、32モル%以上のエチレンモノマーを含有することを特徴とする、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の包装用材料。
- 前記エチレンモノマーの割合がより高いEVOH層が、35から48モル%のエチレンモノマーを含有することを特徴とする、請求項5に記載の包装用材料。
- 互いに直接配置された少なくとも3つのEVOH層を有し、エチレンモノマー含量の異なるEVOH層間で少なくとも2つの界面が形成されている、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の包装用材料。
- 請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の包装用材料から形成された封止パッケージであって、
繊維性材料の基材層と、前記繊維性材料の基材層の内側で、少なくとも2層のエチレンモノマーの割合が異なるエチレンビニルアルコール共重合体(EVOH)の層と、最も内側のポリマーヒートシール可能層とを有することを特徴とする、封止パッケージ。 - 前記封止パッケージの少なくとも片側で、最外層のポリマーヒートシール可能層を有することを特徴とする、請求項8に記載のパッケージ。
- ポリマー被覆された包装用板紙でできたパッケージ容器又はカートンであることを特徴とする、請求項8又は9に記載のパッケージ。
- 酸素気密に封止された食品パッケージであることを特徴とする、請求項8〜10のいずれか1項に記載のパッケージ。
