Description
このように構成すれば、データ線と共通電極または補助容量線の少なくとも一方との間に生じる所定の電圧に起因する容量結合によるデータ線の電位変動により、確実に低減することができる。
このように構成すれば、容易に、一定の期間の間に画像信号が画素に書き込まれるのを抑制することができる。
このように構成すれば、弓のしなりによって液晶分子の配向の変化が加速されるので、応答速度の速い電気光学装置を構成することができる。
このように構成すれば、容易に、赤色、緑色および青色、または、赤色、緑色および黄色、または、赤色、緑色、黄色および橙色の光の加法混色により、カラー画像を表示することができる。
このように構成すれば、3つ以上の表示領域ごとに、それぞれ、画像信号を書き込み、液晶の応答を待ってからそれぞれの表示領域に対応する光源をそれぞれのタイミングで発光することができるので、表示部の全ての画素に画像信号を書き込み、液晶の応答を待ってから光源を発光する場合と異なり、全ての画素に画像信号が書き込まれるのを待たなくてよい分、液晶表示装置を高速に動作させることができる。

Claims (7)
- それぞれが画素を配置した複数の表示領域からなる表示部と、
前記複数の表示領域のそれぞれに対応して設けられた共通電極と、
前記画素に対応して設けられ、電気光学物質を介して前記共通電極と対向する画素電極と、
前記画素電極に対応して設けられた補助容量電極と、
前記複数の表示領域毎に、前記画素電極への画像信号の書き込みを制御する駆動制御部と、
前記複数の表示領域毎に、前記共通電極および前記補助容量電極の一方又は両方への電圧の印加を制御する電圧印加制御部と
を備え、
前記複数の表示領域のうち1つの表示領域の画素電極への画像信号の書き込み期間中に、当該1つの表示領域に隣接する表示領域に対応する前記共通電極および前記補助容量電極の一方または両方に電圧を印加して当該共通電極と当該補助容量電極との間に黒データ表示時よりも大きな電位差を形成する黒挿入が行われ、前記隣接する表示領域について前記黒挿入が行われた後の一定の期間、前記1つの表示領域の画素電極への画像信号の書き込みが停止される

前記一定の期間は、少なくとも前記マトリクス状に配置された画素が走査される2水平走査期間以上の期間である、
請求項1に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記駆動制御部は、クロック信号に基づいて前記画像信号を前記画素電極に書き込み、
前記一定の期間には、前記駆動制御部へのクロック信号が停止される、
請求項1または2に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記画像信号の書き込みが停止されている前記一定の期間には、ダミー画像信号がデータ線に供給される、
請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記電気光学物質は液晶であり、前記液晶に相転移電圧を印加した後に構成分子が弓なり状に配列されるベンド配向となる液晶モードで駆動する、
請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記複数の表示領域のそれぞれは、赤色、緑色および青色の3色、赤色、緑色および黄色の3色、または、赤色、緑色、黄色および橙色の4色の光を時分割で発光する光源を備えている、
請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記複数の表示領域は、3つ以上の表示領域から構成されている、
請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の電気光学装置。
