Description
(B)ブチレンテレフタレート単位を主体とした結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子、並びに
(C)該微粒子(A)に対する溶解度及び該微粒子(B)に対する溶解度が、いずれも、40℃以下では5質量%未満であり170℃以上では99質量%以上である有機溶剤を含有し、
該微粒子(A)と該微粒子(B)との割合が、これらの合計に基づいて、前者が95〜30質量%で、後者が5〜70質量%であり、且つ、有機溶剤(C)の含有量が、該微粒子(A)及び該微粒子(B)の合計100質量部に対して40〜800質量部であることを特徴とする缶用塗料組成物。
本発明における結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(A)は、エチレンテレフタレート単位を主体としたポリエステル樹脂の微粒子である。結晶性とは、示査走査型熱量計による測定において、明確な融点を示すことを意味する。エチレンテレフタレート単位を主体としたポリエステル樹脂は、テレフタル酸又はその低級アルキルエステルとエチレングリコールとの重縮合反応によって得られるが、テレフタル酸又はその低級アルキルエステルの一部をイソフタル酸、アジピン酸等のその他の多塩基酸又はその低級アルキルエステルで置き換えたり、エチレングリコールの一部をプロピレングリコール、1,4−シクロヘキサンジメタノール等のその他の多価アルコールで置き換えてもよい。
本発明における結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(B)は、ブチレンテレフタレート単位を主体としたポリエステル樹脂の微粒子である。結晶性とは、示査走査型熱量計による測定において、明確な融点を示すことを意味する。ブチレンテレフタレート単位を主体としたポリエステル樹脂は、テレフタル酸又はその低級アルキルエステルと1,4−ブタンジオールとの重縮合反応によって得られるが、テレフタル酸又はその低級アルキルエステルの一部をイソフタル酸、アジピン酸、セバシン酸等のその他の多塩基酸又はその低級アルキルエステルで置き換えたり、1,4−ブタンジオールの一部を1,6−ヘキサンジオール、1,4−シクロヘキサンジオール等のその他の多価アルコールで置き換えてもよい。
本発明の缶用塗料組成物における、結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(A)と結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(B)との使用割合は、これらの微粒子の合計に基づいて、前者が95〜30質量%で、後者が5〜70質量%である。これらの微粒子が有機溶剤中に分散した状態の場合は、微粒子(A)と微粒子(B)の固形分当たりでこの割合となる様に混合使用する。
有機溶剤(C)は、結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(A)に対する溶解度及び結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(B)に対する溶解度が、いずれも、40℃以下では5質量%未満であり、170℃以上では99質量%以上である有機溶剤である。有機溶剤(C)が、このような溶解度であることにより、本発明塗料組成物は、常温では流動性に優れた分散状態であり、塗膜形成のための加熱時には微粒子(A)及び微粒子(B)が共に溶融して均一塗膜を形成する。
非結晶性ポリエステル樹脂(D)は、示査走査型熱量計による測定において明確な融点を示さないものであり、常温で有機溶剤に溶解しやすい樹脂で、塗膜形成時において溶融状態の結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(A)と結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(B)との親和性や相溶性が高い樹脂、又は溶融状態の結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(A)と結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(B)と反応して連続層を形成するような樹脂が挙げられる。このような性質によって、該ポリエステル樹脂(D)は塗料組成物の塗膜外観の向上に寄与する。
分散剤(E)は、結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(A)及び結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(B)の有機溶剤(C)中の分散性を向上させるために用いることができる。
本発明の缶用塗料組成物には、必要に応じて、レゾール型フェノール樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、アミノ樹脂などのポリエステル樹脂以外の樹脂を配合することができる。これらの中でもレゾール型フェノール樹脂やエポキシ樹脂が、金属板との塗膜密着性を向上せしめる点から、好ましい。
本発明の缶用塗料組成物は、結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(A)、結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(B)及び有機溶剤(C)の各必須成分、必要に応じて、非結晶性ポリエステル樹脂(D)及び分散剤(E)の各任意成分並びに前記その他の成分を、公知の方法に従って、混合することにより、調製することができる。
本発明の缶用塗料組成物は、飲食品用缶の金属板を缶状に成形加工してから塗装を行うポストコート方式にも使用できるが、特に、該金属板に予め塗装して得られた塗装金属板を缶状に成形加工するプレコート方式に好適に使用できる。
製造例1
多塩基酸成分を、テレフタル酸/イソフタル酸=85モル%/15モル%の原料組成とし、又多価アルコール成分を、エチレングリコールを100モル%の原料組成として得られたポリエチレンテレフタレート樹脂(PET)を、常法によりジェットミルで冷却粉砕し、分級を繰り返して、結晶性ポリエチレンテレフタレート樹脂微粒子(PET-No.1という)を得た。
表1に示す原料組成のポリエチレンテレフタレート樹脂を用い、該樹脂を「DBE」(商品名、デュポン社製、アジピン酸ジメチル、グルタール酸ジメチル、コハク酸ジメチルの混合溶剤、沸点205℃)400部と共に攪拌しながら加熱溶解し、500部のシクロヘキサノン(沸点155℃)を投入して結晶微粒子を冷却析出させた後、濾過及び減圧乾燥して、結晶性ポリエチレンテレフタレート樹脂微粒子(PET-No.2という)を得た。
表1に示す原料組成のポリエチレンテレフタレート樹脂を用い、溶解溶剤をN−メチル−2−ピロリドン(沸点202℃)に変更する以外は、製造例2と同様にして、結晶性ポリエチレンテレフタレート樹脂微粒子(PET-No.3という)を得た。
表1に示す原料組成のポリブチレンテレフタレート樹脂を用い、該樹脂を「DBE」(商品名、デュポン社製、アジピン酸ジメチル、グルタール酸ジメチル、コハク酸ジメチルの混合溶剤、沸点205℃)400部と共に攪拌しながら加熱溶解し、500部のシクロヘキサノン(沸点155℃)を投入して結晶微粒子を冷却析出させた後、濾過及び減圧乾燥して、結晶性ポリブチレンテレフタレート樹脂微粒子(PBT-No.1という)を得た。
表1に示す原料組成のポリブチレンテレフタレート樹脂を用いる以外は、製造例4と同様にして、結晶性ポリブチレンテレフタレート樹脂微粒子(PBT-No.1という)を得た。
表1に示したPET−No.1を50部、PBT−No.1を50部、「DBE」(商品名、デュポン社製)を500部、「BYK−161」(注1)を5部(固形分)、及び「ショーノールCKS394」(注2)を2部(固形分)、ペイントシェーカーで60分間混合分散し、シクロヘキサノン/メチルエチルケトン(50/50の質量比)にて固形分を調整し、固形分12%の本発明缶用塗料組成物No.1を得た。(注1)及び(注2)は、下記のものを示す。
表2の配合内容とする以外は、実施例1と同様にして、固形分12%の本発明缶用塗料組成物No.2〜No.8を得た。
表3の配合内容とする以外は、実施例1と同様にして、固形分12%の比較缶用塗料組成物No.9〜No.11を得た。
実施例1〜8及び比較例1〜3で得られた缶用塗料組成物No.1〜No.11について、塗膜性能試験を行った。
○は、透明で均一だが、塗膜の平滑性がやや劣る、
△は、塗膜が不透明で塗膜の平滑性が著しく劣る、
×は、著しい凹凸やヒビワレ等が見られ、塗膜外観が不連続である。
○は、被膜にクラック等の欠陥が無く、平滑な加工面である、
△は、被膜にクラック等の欠陥が見られる、
×は、加工中に被膜の剥離や脱落が起こり、加工できない。
○は、ごくわずかに白化が認められる、

- (A)有機溶剤によって加熱溶融した後に冷却させる溶融冷却法によって得たエチレンテレフタレート単位を主体とした結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子、
(B)有機溶剤によって加熱溶融した後に冷却させる溶融冷却法によって得たブチレンテレフタレート単位を主体とした結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子、並びに
(C)該微粒子(A)に対する溶解度及び該微粒子(B)に対する溶解度が、いずれも、40℃以下では5質量%未満であり170℃以上では99質量%以上である有機溶剤
を含有し、
該微粒子(A)と該微粒子(B)との割合が、これらの合計に基づいて、前者が95〜30質量%で、後者が5〜70質量%であり、且つ、
有機溶剤(C)の含有量が、該微粒子(A)及び該微粒子(B)の合計100質量部に対して40〜800質量部であることを特徴とする缶用塗料組成物。 - 結晶性ポリエステル樹脂微粒子(A)が、樹脂固有粘度0.4〜1.4dl/g、ガラス転移温度(Tg)55〜130℃、及び融点(Tm)160〜260℃のものである請求項1に記載の缶用塗料組成物。

- 請求項12に記載の塗装金属板の塗装面が缶内面となる様に、絞り加工又は絞りしごき加工して得られた缶体。
- (1)エチレンテレフタレート単位を主体とした結晶性ポリエステル樹脂を有機溶剤によって加熱溶融した後に冷却させる溶融冷却法によって、該樹脂の微粒子(A)を得る工程、
(2)ブチレンテレフタレート単位を主体とした結晶性ポリエステル樹脂を有機溶剤によって加熱溶融した後に冷却させる溶融冷却法によって、該樹脂の微粒子(B)を得る工程、並びに
(3)前記工程(1)で得た微粒子(A)、
前記工程(2)で得た微粒子(B)、及び
該微粒子(A)に対する溶解度及び該微粒子(B)に対する溶解度が、いずれも、40℃以下では5質量%未満であり170℃以上では99質量%以上である有機溶剤(C)を、
該微粒子(A)と該微粒子(B)との割合が、これらの合計に基づいて、前者が95〜30質量%で、後者が5〜70質量%であり、且つ、有機溶剤(C)の含有量が、該微粒子(A)及び該微粒子(B)の合計100質量部に対して40〜800質量部となるように混合する工程
を含むことを特徴とする缶用塗料組成物の調製方法。 - (1)請求項14に記載の方法により、缶用塗料組成物を調製する工程、及び
(2)工程(1)で得た缶用塗料組成物を、金属板の少なくとも片面に塗装し、焼付ける工程
を含む、塗装金属板の製造方法。 - (1)請求項15に記載の方法により、塗装金属板を製造する工程、及び
(2)工程(2)で得た塗装金属板の塗装面が缶内面となる様に、絞り加工又は絞りしごき加工をする工程
を含む、缶体の製造方法。
