Claims (13)
- 複数のスキャンラインと複数のデータラインとが交差する領域に配置され,共通電極,画素電極及びOCB液晶よりなるOCB液晶セルを含む複数の画素を備える液晶表示パネルと;
前記スキャンラインを介して前記複数の画素から任意の画素を選択するためのスキャン信号を印加するスキャンドライバと;
前記データラインを介して前記複数の画素に複数のパルス波形を順次印加するソースドライバと;
前記液晶表示パネルに光源を印加するバックライト部と;
前記バックライト部にバックライト電圧を印加する光源制御器と;
前記スキャンドライバ,前記ソースドライバ及び前記光源制御器の動作を制御するための制御信号を印加するタイミング制御部と;
を備え,
前記ソースドライバは,
階調データ値と複数のスイッチング信号とがテーブルの形態で対応付けて格納されており、前記テーブルを参照し、入力された階調データに対応する複数のスイッチング信号を順次出力する手段と;
前記複数のスイッチング信号を入力され,複数の電圧レベルから前記各スイッチング信号に対応する電圧レベルを選択し,1フレーム期間に,前記選択した複数の電圧レベルに該当する複数のパルス波形を前記画素に順次印加するスイッチング部と;
を含むことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記ソースドライバは,前記複数の電圧レベルを生成する電圧発生部を備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記複数の電圧レベルを生成する電圧発生部をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記複数のスイッチング信号を順次出力する手段は,前記OCB液晶セルをリセットさせるためのスイッチング信号を各フレームの初期毎に出力することを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記OCB液晶は,前記OCB液晶セルのリセット時,光透過率が実質的に0となることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記スイッチング部は,前記OCB液晶セルのリセット時,前記複数の電圧レベルのうち最大の電圧レベルを選択することを特徴とする請求項4または5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶表示装置の駆動の初期段階に,前記OCB液晶をベンド転移させるための電圧を前記共通電極に印加するDC−DCコンバータをさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記スイッチング部は,複数のスイッチング素子から構成され,前記各スイッチング素子は,前記各データラインに連結されることを特徴とする請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記各スイッチング素子は,バイポーラ接合トランジスタ(BJT),モス電界−効果トランジスタ(MOSFET)及びマルチプレックスからなる群より選択された少なくとも1つであることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記バックライト部は,レッド,グリーン及びブルーの光を各々発光するレッドLED,グリーンLED及びブルーLEDから構成されることを特徴とする請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記バックライト部は,ホワイト光を発光するホワイトLEDまたはCCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescence Lamp)であることを特徴とする請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記バックライト部から発光する光をフィルタリングするレッド,グリーン及びブルーのカラーフィルタをさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項11に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記各画素は,
前記スキャンラインを介して伝達されるスキャン信号に応答して,前記データラインを介して伝達される複数のパルス波形を前記OCB液晶セルの画素電極に順次に伝達するスイッチングトランジスタと;
前記複数のパルス波形を蓄積する蓄積キャパシタと;
をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1〜12のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
