Description
3番目の発明では、1または2番目の発明において、上記SOx捕集材のSOx捕集能力を回復させるために該SOx捕集材の温度を上昇させるときには、該SOx捕集材の温度を段階的に上昇させる。
3番目の発明によれば、SOx捕集材のSOx捕集能力を回復しているときに該SOx捕集材から一気に多量のNOxが排出されることが回避されるので、このとき、NOx触媒において十分にNOxを捕集する或いは還元浄化することができる。
なお、流入する排気ガスの空燃比が理論空燃比よりもリーンであるときにSOxをSOx捕集材25の内部に拡散させる温度は、流入する排気ガスの空燃比が理論空燃比よりもリッチであるときにSOxをSOx捕集材25から放出させる温度よりも高い。
こうしたNOx触媒は、例えば、特許文献1に記載されている(同文献では、「NOx吸蔵触媒」と称されている)。
図3に示したタイムチャートでも、時刻T0において、SOx捕集能力Aが閾値ALを下回るので、NOx捕集能力回復処理が開始される。そして、このNOx捕集能力回復処理は、NOx触媒37に保持されているNOxの量NBが零になるまで行われる。
図4に示したタイムチャートでも、時刻T0において、SOx捕集能力Aが閾値ALを下回るので、NOx捕集能力回復処理が開始される。そして、このNOx捕集能力回復処理は、NOx触媒37に保持されているNOxの量NBが零になるまで行われる。

Claims (3)
- 排気ガス中のSOxを捕集するためのSOx捕集材であって、該SOx捕集材の内部雰囲気がリーン雰囲気であり且つ該SOx捕集材の温度が比較的低いときにSOxを捕集し、該SOx捕集材の内部雰囲気がリーン雰囲気に維持されつつ該SOx捕集材の温度が比較的高くなるとSOx捕集能力が回復するSOx捕集材を機関排気通路内に備えた内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、内部雰囲気がリーン雰囲気であるときにNOxを捕集して保持し、内部雰囲気がリッチ雰囲気となると保持しているNOxを還元浄化するNOx触媒を上記SOx捕集材下流の機関排気通路内に備え、上記SOx捕集材のSOx捕集能力を回復させるようとしたとき、該SOx捕集材のSOx捕集能力を回復させる制御を開始する前に上記NOx触媒のNOx捕集能力を回復させる制御を開始することを特徴とする排気浄化装置。
- 上記SOx捕集材下流であって上記NOx触媒上流の機関排気通路内に還元剤を供給する還元剤供給手段を備え、上記SOx捕集材のSOx捕集能力を回復させているときに上記還元剤供給手段から機関排気通路内に還元剤を供給することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の排気浄化装置。
- 上記SOx捕集材のSOx捕集能力を回復させるために該SOx捕集材の温度を上昇させるときには、該SOx捕集材の温度を段階的に上昇させることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の排気浄化装置。
