Description
ト、特にトリポード型等速ジョイント用グリース組成物
に関するものである。
減速装置から車軸へ駆動力を伝達する回転軸に使用され
ており、特にトリポード型と呼ばれる等速ジョイント
は、3本の軸を持つトリポードと、それぞれの軸に複数
のニードルを介し、3個のローラおよび、ローラを案内
する3つの円筒溝を持つアウターレースで構成されてい
る。トリポード型等速ジョイントは、ある角度条件で、
回転した時、構成部品が、複雑にころがりすべり運動す
るため、その際回転数の3倍の周期の軸方向へのスライ
ド抵抗(軸力)、すなわち回転三次の軸力が発生し車両
に振動を起こすことが知られている。従来、これらのト
リポード型等速ジョイントの潤滑には、潤滑油を基油と
し、カルシウムコンプレックス石けんを増ちょう剤とし
たグリースや、リチウム石けんを増ちょう剤とし、硫化
油脂、トリクレジルフォスフェート、亜鉛ジアルキルジ
チオフォスフェート等の硫黄−リン系極圧剤を含有した
グリース等が使用されている。回転三次の軸力の発生
は、トリポード型等速ジョイントの構造上の複雑なころ
がりすべり運動での、内部摩擦による。

ブデンジチオカーバメイトからなる群から選択される有
機モリブデン化合物、(d) 亜鉛ジチオフォスフェート、
(e) 金属を含まない、硫黄−リン系極圧剤、及び(f) 酸
化ワックスのカルシウム塩、石油スルホン酸のカルシウ
ム塩及びアルキル芳香族スルホン酸のカルシウム塩から
なる群から選択されるカルシウム塩。
し、振動を防止し得るグリースの性能評価について、S
RV試験機と呼ばれている、振動摩擦摩耗試験機を用い
て試験を行い、特定の振動摩擦条件下での摩擦係数と、
実ジョイントとの振動に一定の関係があることを見い出
した。そこで、増ちょう剤として、リチウム石けんまた
はリチウムコンプレックス石けんを用いたグリースに、
添加剤として種々の極圧添加剤等を組合せたグリース組
成物について、摩擦係数を検討した。その結果、(a) 基
油に、(b) 増ちょう剤として、リチウム石けんもしくは
リチウムコンプレックス石けんを用い、添加剤として、
(c) モリブデンジチオフォスフェートとモリブデンジチ
オカーバメイトから選択される、少なくとも1種の有機
モリブデン化合物と、(d) 亜鉛ジオチオフォスフェート
と、(e) 金属を含まない、硫黄−リン系極圧剤と、(f)
酸化ワックスのカルシウム塩、石油スルホン酸のカルシ
ウム塩、アルキル芳香族スルホン酸のカルシウム塩から
選択される、カルシウム塩を組合せて使用することによ
り、より大きな摩擦係数の低減が認められ、さらに実ジ
ョイントを用いての、振動試験においても、顕著に回転
三次の軸力の低減が認められることを見出し、本発明を
完成するに至った。
明に使用する(a) 成分の基油としては、鉱物油、炭化水
素系合成油、エステル系合成油、エーテル系合成油等の
潤滑油またはそれらの混合油を用いることができ、特に
限定するものではない。(b) 成分のリチウム含有増ちょ
う剤としては、石けん型グリースとして、汎用性があ
り、一般的に広く用いられている、12−ヒドロキシス
テアリン酸のリチウム塩もしくは、ステアリン酸のリチ
ウム塩等が挙げられ、より耐熱性が要求される場合は、
12−ヒドロキシステアリン酸と二塩基酸等を用いたリ
チウムコンプレックス石けんが適用される。本発明にお
ける(c) 有機モリブデン化合物は、モリブデンジチオフ
ォスフェート及び/又はモリブデンジチオカーバメイト
である。モリブデンジチオフォスフェートの好ましい例
としては、次式(I)で示されるものが挙げられる。

ール基を示す。) 特に、R7 、R8 、R9 及びR10が、炭素数3〜8の、
一級または二級アルキル基であるものの効果が大きい。

硫黄成分が15〜35重量%であり、リン成分が0.5〜
3重量%であり、硫黄成分とリン成分比のバランスによ
り、優れた摩耗防止性能や焼け付き防止性能が発揮され
る。すなわち、硫黄成分が上記範囲より多いと金属を腐
食させやすくなり、リン成分が上記範囲より多いと摩耗
を増加し、摩耗防止効果が得られなくなり、さらに両者
とも上記範囲より少ない場合は、目的とする効果が得ら
れない。
ウム塩は、酸化ワックスのカルシウム塩、潤滑油留分中
の芳香族炭化水素成分のスルホン化によって得られる石
油スルホン塩のカルシムウ塩、ジノニルナフタレンスル
ホン酸やアルキルベンゼンスルホン酸のような合成スル
ホン酸のカルシウム塩であり、その他、過塩基性合成ス
ルホン酸のカルシウム塩も使用できる。いずれも防錆剤
として広く知られているものである。特に酸化ワックス
のカルシウム塩の効果が大きい。本発明においては、
(a) 基油、(b) リチウム含有増ちょう剤、(c) 有機モリ
ブデン化合物、(d) 亜鉛ジチオフォスフェート、(e) 金
属を含まない硫黄−リン系極圧剤及び(f) カルシウム塩
を、特定の比率で組み合わせることにより、各成分単独
含有の場合と比較して、格段に優れた効果を発揮し、本
発明の所期の目的がより良く達成される。

うに考えている。(c) 成分の有機モリブデン化合物およ
び(d) 成分の亜鉛ジチオフォスフェートは、いずれも潤
滑面において自己分解し、潤滑部に粘弾性の高分子膜を
形成して金属部分を被覆し、振動を吸収し、さらに、こ
の高分子膜は、潤滑部の複雑なころがりすべり運動で容
易にせん断され、摩擦を低減するという相乗効果が考え
られる。(c) 成分の有機モリブデン化合物については、
この効果の他、高面圧下では、自己分解と、硫黄成分の
存在下で、二硫化モリブデンを生成しやすく、摩擦、摩
耗を低減する効果も有すると考えられる。

考えられる。さらに、(f) 成分である、酸化ワックスの
カルシウム塩、石油スルホン酸のカルシウム塩及びアル
キル芳香族のカルシウム塩からなる群から選択されるカ
ルシウム塩は、通常は防錆剤として使用され、潤滑面に
介入し金属表面に吸着して金属表面を保護し防錆効果を
有すると考えられるが、本発明では、これらのカルシウ
ム塩が均一に潤滑面に分散され、また、カルシウム化合
物として、カルシウム基のもつ摩耗防止効果により、上
記の他の成分の効果を損なわず、摩擦低減効果をより効
果的にする働きを有していると推定される。

の範囲であり、(b) 成分のリチウム含有増ちょう剤の含
有量は、2〜15重量%、好ましくは5〜10重量%の
範囲であり、(c) 成分の有機モリブデン化合物の含有量
は、0.5〜10重量%、好ましくは2〜5重量%の範囲
であり、(d) 成分の亜鉛ジチオフォスフェートの含有量
は、0.5〜5重量%、好ましくは1〜3重量%の範囲で
あり、(e) 成分の金属を含まない、硫黄−リン系極圧剤
の含有量は、0.1〜5重量%、好ましくは、0.3〜2重
量%の範囲であり、さらに(f) 成分のカルシウム塩は、
0.5〜5重量%、好ましくは1〜3重量%の範囲であ
る。
%未満では、増ちょう効果が少なく、グリース化が困難
であり、15重量%以上では、硬くなり過ぎる。(c) 成
分の含有量が0.5重量%未満、(d) 成分の含有量が0.5
重量%未満、(e) 成分の含有量が0.1重量%未満、(f)
成分の含有量が0.5重量%未満では、いずれも本発明の
所期の目的が十分に達成されなくなり、一方(c) 成分の
含有量を10重量%以上、(d) 成分の含有量を5重量%
以上、(e) 成分の含有量を5重量%以上、(f)成分の含
有量を5重量%より多く添加しても効果の増大はない。
尚、これらの成分のほか、必要に応じて酸化防止剤、防
錆剤、防食剤などを含有させることができる。
する。 [実施例1〜4、6〜9および比較例1〜3]基油25
00gに12−ヒドロキシステアリン酸500gを加
え、80℃に加熱し、50%水酸化リチウム水溶液14
0gを添加攪拌し、30分間ケン化反応させ、その後2
10℃まで加熱した。加熱後、160℃まで冷却し、さ
らに基油1930gを加え、攪拌しながら100℃以下
まで冷却し、ベースリチウムグリースとした。このベー
スグリースに、表1および表2に示す配合で、添加剤を
添加し、適宜基油を加え、三段ロールミルにて、ちょう
度No. 1グレードに調整した。
システアリン酸90g、アゼライン酸30gを加え、6
5〜75℃に加熱し、50%水酸化リチウム水溶液55
gを添加し、10分間反応させた後、加熱し、95〜1
20℃にて30分間反応させ、その後、210℃まで昇
温させ、10分間保持後冷却し、さらに基油352.5g
を加え、攪拌冷却し、ベースリチウムコンプレックスグ
リースとした。このベースグリースに、表1に示す配合
で、添加剤を添加し、適宜基油を加え、三段ロールミル
にて、ちょう度No. 1グレードに調整した。尚、グリー
スの基油としては以下のものを使用した。

スとした。これらのグリースにつき次に示す試験法で物
性の評価を行い、得られた結果を表1および表2に併記

定は、トリポード型等速ジョイントにおける回転時の軸
方向へのスライド抵抗を軸力として測定した。結果は比
較例5の市販カルシウムコンプレックスグリースを基準
とし、各角度ごとに軸力低減率を求め、さらに3つの角
度の平均値を平均軸力低減率とした。
ジョイント用グリース組成物は、(a)基油と、(b) リチ
ウム石けん及びリチウムコンプレックス石けんからなる
群から選択されるリチウム含有増ちょう剤と、(c) モリ
ブデンジチオフォスフェート及びモリブデンジチオカー
バメイトからなる群から選択される有機モリブデン化合
物と、(d) 亜鉛ジチオフォスフェートと、(e) 金属を含
まない、硫黄−リン系極圧剤と、(f) 酸化ワックスのカ
ルシウム塩、石油スルホン酸のカルシウム塩及びアルキ
ル芳香族スルホン酸のカルシウム塩からなる群から選択
されるカルシウム塩を含有しているため、表1および表
2に示す実施例および比較例の試験結果からもわかるよ
うに、著しい摩擦係数の低減および回転三次の軸力の低
減効果を奏する。

Claims (8)
- 【請求項1】 以下の成分を含有する等速ジョイント用
グリース組成物。 (a) 基油、 (b) リチウム石けん及びリチウムコンプレックス石けん
からなる群から選択されるリチウム含有増ちょう剤、 (c) モリブデンジチオフォスフェート及びモリブデンジ
チオカーバメイトからなる群から選択される有機モリブ
デン化合物、 (d) 亜鉛ジチオフォスフェート、 (e) 金属を含まない、硫黄−リン系極圧剤、及び (f) 酸化ワックスのカルシウム塩、石油スルホン酸のカ
ルシウム塩及びアルキル芳香族スルホン酸のカルシウム
塩からなる群から選択されるカルシウム塩。 - 【請求項2】 等速ジョイント用グリース組成物の全重
量に対する、リチウム含有増ちょう剤の含有量が2〜1
5重量%、有機モリブデン化合物の含有量が0.5〜10
重量%、亜鉛ジチオフォスフェートの含有量が0.5〜5
重量%、金属を含まない、硫黄−リン系極圧剤の含有量
が0.1〜5重量%、カルシウム塩の含有量が0.5〜5重
量%である、請求項1記載の等速ジョイント用グリース
組成物。 - 【請求項3】 有機モリブデン化合物がモリブデンジチ
オフォスフェートとモリブデンジチオカーバメイトの混
合物である、請求項1記載の等速ジョイント用グリース
組成物。 - 【請求項4】 有機モリブデン化合物がモリブデンジチ
オフォスフェートとモリブデンジチオカーバメイトの混
合物である、請求項2記載の等速ジョイント用グリース
組成物。 - 【請求項5】 金属を含まない、硫黄−リン系極圧剤
が、該硫黄−リン系極圧剤の全重量に対して、硫黄分1
5〜35重量%およびリン分0.5〜3重量%を含有する
ものである、請求項1記載の等速ジョイント用グリース
組成物。 - 【請求項6】 金属を含まない、硫黄−リン系極圧剤
が、該硫黄−リン系極圧剤の全重量に対して、硫黄分1
5〜35重量%およびリン分0.5〜3重量%を含有する
ものである、請求項2記載の等速ジョイント用グリース
組成物。 - 【請求項7】 カルシウム塩が、酸化ワックスのカルシ
ウム塩である、請求項1記載の等速ジョイント用グリー
ス組成物。 - 【請求項8】 カルシウム塩が、酸化ワックスのカルシ
ウム塩である、請求項2記載の等速ジョイント用グリー
ス組成物。
