Abstract
Description
第1の端面から第2の端面へと軸方向に延びるチャネルを形成する交差壁と、
前記第1の端面における前記チャネルの第1の部分及び前記第2の端面における前記チャネルの第2の部分のうち少なくとも一方を封止するためのプラグと
を備え、前記プラグが、
それぞれのチャネルの前記壁上に配置された第1の層と、該第1の層上の各チャネルの軸心の方向に内側に配置された第2の層とを備えている、
多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第1の層は第1の組成物を含み、前記第2の層は第2の組成物を含むことを特徴とする実施形態1に記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第2の組成物が前記第1の組成物とは異なることを特徴とする実施形態1又は2に記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第1の組成物が、第1のコロイド状シリカ組成物及び第1の無機粉末成分を含み、
前記第2の組成物が、第2のコロイド状シリカ組成物及び第2の無機粉末成分を含み、
前記第1の無機粉末成分が、前記第2の無機粉末成分より小さい平均粒径を有し、
前記第1のコロイド状シリカ組成物が、前記第2のコロイド状シリカ組成物の平均粒径より大きい平均粒径を有する
ことを特徴とする、実施形態1〜3のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第1のコロイド状シリカ組成物が多様な粒径分布を有することを特徴とする、実施形態1〜4のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第1の組成物がゲル化した第1のコロイド状シリカ組成物を含み、前記第2の組成物がゲル化していない第2のコロイド状シリカ組成物を含むことを特徴とする、実施形態1〜5のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第1の組成物が、前記ハニカム体壁の細孔及び微小亀裂構造内への前記第2の組成物の成分の浸透を防ぐように構成された、前記ハニカム体壁内に吸収されるパッシベーション層を含むことを特徴とする、実施形態1〜6のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第1の組成物が、熱処理及び化学処理のうち少なくとも1つを通じて、除去可能な一過性成分を含んでいることを特徴とする、実施形態1〜7のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第1の層及び前記第2の層のうち少なくとも1つが、前記プラグ構造の触媒活性成分又は化学活性成分を含んでいることを特徴とする、実施形態1〜8のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記触媒活性成分が、NOx還元反応において触媒的に活性であり、前記化学活性成分が、炭化水素還元反応において化学的に活性であることを特徴とする、実施形態1〜9のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第1の層が第1の特性を有し、前記第2の層が、前記第1の特性とは異なる第2の特性を有することを特徴とする、実施形態1〜10のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第1の層が第1の多孔率を有し、前記第2の層が、前記第1の多孔率とは異なる第2の多孔率を有することを特徴とする、実施形態1〜11のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第1の層が第1の熱膨張係数の保護(CP1)を有し、前記第2の層が、前記第1の熱膨張係数の保護(CP1)とは異なる第2の熱膨張係数の保護(CP2)を有し、
前記第1の層及び前記第2の層のうち少なくとも一方が前記壁上に配置される場合に、前記壁の熱膨張係数(CTE3)が局所的に増加することを特徴とする、実施形態1〜12のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
CP2<CP1であり、熱膨張係数の保護の増大が、前記壁のCTE3の増加の減少を示すことを特徴とする、実施形態1〜13のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第2の層が、先行する層から前記それぞれのチャネルの前記軸心の方向に内側に配置された、2つ以上の層を含むことを特徴とする、実施形態1〜14のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
前記第1の端面における前記チャネルの前記第1の部分及び前記第2の端面における前記チャネルの前記第2の部分のうち少なくとも一方を封止するための前記プラグが、前記それぞれの端面から間隔をあけて前記各チャネル内に配置されることを特徴とする、実施形態1〜15のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
第1の端面から第2の端面へと軸方向に延びるチャネルを形成する交差壁を備えた多孔質セラミックハニカム体を施栓する方法であって、
第1の層パテを第2の層パテの上に配置する工程と、
前記第2の層パテを支持体の上に配置する工程と、
前記支持体及び前記多孔質セラミックハニカム体を共に軸方向に所定の距離だけ押圧して、前記第1の端面における前記チャネルの第前記1の部分及び前記第2の端面における前記チャネルの前記第2の部分のうち少なくとも一方に前記第1の層及び前記第2の層を注入し、それによってプラグを形成して、前記第1の端面における前記チャネルの前記第1の部分及び前記第2の端面における前記チャネルの前記第2の部分のうち少なくとも一方を封止する工程であって、前記プラグが、それぞれのチャネルの前記壁上に配置された、前記第1の層パテ組成物の第1の層と、第1の層上の各チャネルの軸心の方向に内側に配置された前記第2の層パテ組成物の第2の層とを備えている、工程
を含む、方法。
前記支持体及び前記多孔質セラミックハニカム体を共に押圧する前に、前記第1の端面及び前記第2の端面のうち少なくとも一方の上にマスクを配置する工程をさらに含む、実施形態17に記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体を施栓する方法。
前記支持体及び前記多孔質セラミックハニカム体を共に押圧する前に、前記支持体と、前記第2の層パテ上に前記第1の層パテを含むリザーバを形成する前記マスクとを封止する工程をさらに含む、実施形態17又は18に記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体を施栓する方法。
前記支持体及び前記多孔質セラミックハニカム体を後退させる工程;及び
前記支持体と、前記第1の端面及び前記第2の端面のうち少なくとも一方との間に仕切り部材を通す工程
をさらに含む、実施形態17〜19のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体を施栓する方法。
第1の層パテを第2の層パテの上に配置する工程が、第3の層パテ上に少なくとも1つの追加の層パテを配置することによって前記第2の層パテを形成する工程をさらに含む、実施形態17〜20のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体を施栓する方法。
前記第1の層パテが第1の組成物を含み、前記第2の層パテが第2の組成物を含むことを特徴とする、実施形態17〜21のいずれかに記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体を施栓する方法。

- 第1の端面から第2の端面へと軸方向に延びるチャネルを形成する交差壁、及び
前記第1の端面における前記チャネルの第1の部分及び前記第2の端面における前記チャネルの第2の部分のうち少なくとも一方を封止するためのプラグ
を備え、前記プラグが、
それぞれのチャネルの前記壁に配置された第1の層と、該第1の層上の各チャネルの軸心の方向に内側に配置された第2の層とを備えている、
多孔質セラミックハニカム体。 - 前記第1の組成物が、第1のコロイド状シリカ組成物及び第1の無機粉末成分を含み、
前記第2の組成物が、第2のコロイド状シリカ組成物及び第2の無機粉末成分を含み、
前記第1の無機粉末成分が、前記第2の無機粉末成分より小さい平均粒径を有し、
前記第1のコロイド状シリカ組成物が、前記第2のコロイド状シリカ組成物の平均粒径より大きい平均粒径を有する
ことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。 - 前記第1のコロイド状シリカ組成物が多様な粒径分布を有する、及び/又は、前記第1の組成物がゲル化した第1のコロイド状シリカ組成物を含み、かつ前記第2の組成物がゲル化していない第2のコロイド状シリカ組成物を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
- 前記第1の層が第1の多孔率を有し、前記第2の層が、前記第1の多孔率とは異なる第2の多孔率を有することを特徴とする、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の多孔質セラミックハニカム体。
- 第1の端面から第2の端面へと軸方向に延びるチャネルを形成する交差壁を備えた多孔質セラミックハニカム体を施栓する方法であって、
第1の層パテを第2の層パテの上に配置する工程、
前記第2の層パテを支持体の上に配置する工程、及び
前記支持体及び前記多孔質セラミックハニカム体を共に軸方向に所定の距離だけ押圧して、前記第1の端面における前記チャネルの第1の部分及び前記第2の端面における前記チャネルの第2の部分のうち少なくとも一方に前記第1の層及び前記第2の層を注入し、それによってプラグを形成して、前記第1の端面における前記チャネルの前記第1の部分及び前記第2の端面における前記チャネルの前記第2の部分のうち少なくとも一方を封止する工程、
を含み、
前記プラグが、前記各チャネルの前記壁上に配置された、前記第1の層パテ組成物の第1の層と、前記第1の層上の前記各チャネルの軸心の方向に内側に配置された前記第2の層パテ組成物の第2の層を備えている、ことを特徴とする方法。
