Abstract
【解決手段】上触媒層3にはジルコニアとRhとを含み、下触媒層2にはセリアとPt及びPdの少なくとも一方とを含み、下触媒層2を構成する酸化物担体中のセリア量を30質量%以下とした。
理由は不明であるが、上触媒層3担持されているRhが下触媒層2へ移動するのを効果的に抑制できる。

Description
上触媒層にはジルコニアとRhとを含み、下触媒層にはセリアとPt及びPdの少なくとも一方とを含み、セリアは下触媒層を構成する酸化物担体中に30質量%以下の量で含まれていることにある。
図1に本実施例の排ガス浄化用触媒を模式的に示す。この排ガス浄化用触媒は、ハニカム基材1と、ハニカム基材1のセル隔壁10の表面にコートされた下触媒層2と、下触媒層2の表面にコートされた上触媒層3と、から構成されている。
下触媒層2の形成に、表1に示したZrO2−CeO2複合酸化物粉末をそれぞれ用いたこと以外は実施例1と同様である。
表1に、各実施例及び比較例で用いたZrO2−CeO2複合酸化物の組成を示す。また触媒中に含まれるCeO2量を算出し、その値も表1に示している。
直列4気筒の 2.4Lガソリンエンジンの排気系に耐久試験後の各触媒をそれぞれ搭載し、触媒入りガス温度が室温から 500℃になるまで理論空燃比で運転した。その間に排出されたHC、CO及びNOx 量を連続的に測定し、それぞれの50%浄化温度を測定した。下触媒層2に含まれるZrO2−CeO2複合酸化物中のCeO2量を横軸に取って、結果を図2に示す。
Claims (3)
- 担体基材と、該担体基材の表面に形成された下触媒層と、該下触媒層の表面に形成された上触媒層と、よりなる排ガス浄化用触媒であって、
該上触媒層にはジルコニアとRhとを含み、
該下触媒層にはセリアとPt及びPdの少なくとも一方とを含み、セリアは該下触媒層を構成する酸化物担体中に30質量%以下の量で含まれていることを特徴とする排ガス浄化用触媒。 - 前記上触媒層にセリアを含む場合には、セリアは前記上触媒層を構成する酸化物担体中に20質量%以下の量で含まれている請求項1に記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
- 前記下触媒層と前記上触媒層とを合わせた合層中には、前記担体基材の1リットルあたり30g以上のセリアを含む請求項1又は請求項2に記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
