Description
本発明は、二重硬化ラミネート接着剤及びそれを含むラミネートに関する。
一面では、本発明は、ラミネートを製造する方法を特徴とする。この方法は、(a)接着剤組成物を製造し、この製造は、(メタ)アクリレート官能性、ポリイソシアネートプレポリマー、及びポリイソシアネート単量体を含む第1部、第1部は少なくとも10重量%のイソシアネート官能性基を含み、ポリオールを含む第2部、及び場合により第3部、第1部、第2部及び任意の第3部の少なくとも一は光開始剤を含むものを一緒にすることを含み、(b)第1屈曲基質を接着剤組成物で被覆し、(c)接着剤組成物を照射線に露出して接着剤組成物を部分的に硬化し、及び(d)接着剤組成物を第2柔軟性基質と接触させることを包含する。
本発明の説明において、これらの用語は次の意味を有する。
ラミネートを製造する方法は、100%固体2部二重硬化組成物を含む接着剤組成物で第1柔軟性フィルム基質を被覆し、被覆組成物を照射線に曝し、かつ第2柔軟性フィルム基質を接着剤組成物と接触させることを包含する。接着剤組成物を照射線に曝すことは、第2柔軟性フィルム基質と接着剤との接触の前、間、又は後、及びそれらの組合せで起こり得る。接着剤組成物は、照射線に直接曝すか、基質が紫外線照射に十分透明である場合には、基質の少なくとも1を介して照射線に曝すことができる。接着剤組成物を照射線に曝すと、組成物に存在する照射線硬化性官能基のフリーラジカル重合を開始し、ラミネートに初期接着特性、例えばグリーン強度を与える。組成物に存在するイソシアネート基及び水酸基が関与するかなり遅い反応も時間をかけて起こり、かつ接着剤組成物の最終成果特性及び製造されたラミネートを提供する。理論に拘束されることは望まないが、本発明者は不飽和の存在、及びフリーラジカル硬化の開始がイソシアネート基及び水酸基の間に起こる硬化速度を促進すると信じる。
二重硬化組成物の第1部、A部は、照射重合性ポリイソシアネートプレポリマー(好ましくは(メタ)アクリレート官能性、ポリイソシアネートプレポリマー)及びポリイソシアネート単量体を含む。A部は、少なくとも40重量%、少なくとも約50重量%、少なくとも約60重量%、90重量%より多くない、又は約80重量%より多くない照射重合性ポリイソシアネートプレポリマー、及び少なくとも約10重量%、少なくとも15重量%、少なくとも20重量%、少なくとも30重量%、少なくとも40重量%、60重量%より多くない、又は50重量%より多くないポリイソシアネート単量体を含むことが好ましい。
照射重合性ポリイソシアネートプレポリマーは、照射硬化性官能基及びイソシアネート官能基を含む。官能基はプレポリマーに下垂、末端又はそれらの組合せで位置する。官能基はプレポリマーの末端に位置する、即ちプレポリマーが官能基で末端キャップさえることが好ましい。照射重合性、ポリイソシアネートプレポリマーは、少なくとも約5重量%、少なくとも約10重量%、約20重量%より多くない、又は18重量%より多くないイソシアネート官能基を含み、及び照射に曝したときに、次の処理に適したグリーン強度を示す組成物を提供するに十分な量の照射重合性官能基を含むことが好ましい。

A部も過剰のイソシアネート単量体を含む。過剰のポリイソシアネート単量体は、接着剤組成物において剥離接着試験法に従って試験する場合に破壊剥離を示す接着剤組成物を達成するのに十分な量で接着剤組成物に存在することが好ましい。適当なポリイソシアネートは上記のポリイソシアネートを含み、ここに挿入する。
二重硬化組成物の第2部、B部は、ポリオール、及び好ましくは光開始剤を含む。B部は、約70重量%〜約100重量%、約80重量%〜約100重量%、又は約90重量%〜約100重量%さえのポリオール、及び0重量%〜約10重量%、0.2重量%〜約5重量%、又は0.5重量%〜1重量%さえの光開始剤を含むことが好ましい。
上記のポリイソシアネートプレポリマーの調製に用いるためのと同様にB部に適当なポリオールは、例えばジオール、トリオール及びそれらの混合物を含む。好ましいポリオールに含まれるのは、ポリエステルポリオール、ポリエーテルポリオール、ポリオレフィンジオール、ポリジエンブロックポリオール、及びそれらの組合せである。好ましいポリオールは、少なくとも約1.5、少なくとも約2、少なくとも約3、4.0より大きくない、3.5より大きくない官能性を有する。好ましいポリオールは、10℃より小さい、又は0℃よりすら小さいTg、及び少なくとも約500g/モル〜約5000g/モル、又は約750g/モル〜約2000g/モルすらの数平均分子量を有する。
組成物は光開始剤をも含む。光開始剤は、別個の成分及びそれらの組合せとして添加された例えばA部、B部及びC部を含む組成物の任意の部分に存在し得る。好ましい光開始剤は、適当な波長及び強度の照射に曝されることによってエチレン性不飽和部分の遊離基重合、交差結合、又は両者を促進することができる。光開始剤は、単独で、又は適当なドナー化合物又は適当な共開始剤と組合せて用いることができる。光開始剤及びその量は、硬化する組成物の厚み及び所望の初期処理強度(即ち、グリーン強度)を達成するために十分な高度の全変換の関数として、均一な反応変換を達成するために選択することが好ましい。
組成物は、場合によって官能基がC部のUV又は電子ビーム照射によって重合性である少なくとも2の照射重合性官能基を含む化合物を含む。C部の成分は、モノ-、ジ-、トリ-、テトラ-、及び高級官能性の任意のレベルの照射重合性官能性を含み得る。マルチプル照射重合性官能基を有する適当な例に含まれるものには、例えばアクリル酸及び/又はメタクリル酸及び脂肪族アルコール、芳香族ポリオール、脂肪族ポリオール、脂環式ポリオール、及びそれらの組合せのエステルを含むアクリル酸及びメタクリル酸のエステルを含む(メタ)アクリレートエステル、ポリエーテルアルコールの(メタ)アクリレートエステル、ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートオリゴマー、エポキシ(メタ)アクリレートオリゴマー、及びそれらの組合せがある。
組成物は更に他の添加剤を含むことができ、例えば、抗酸化剤、可塑剤、タッキファイング剤、接着促進剤、非反応性樹脂、紫外線安定剤、触媒、レオロジー変性剤、殺生物剤、腐食禁止剤、デハイドレータ、有機溶媒、着色剤(例えば、顔料及び染料)、充填剤、界面活性剤、炎遅延剤、ワックス、及びそれらの混合物である。これらの成分は、存在する場合には、材料を通過する光の量を最大にし、かつ光重合法を開始する光開始剤に利用できるような制限されたUV吸収を有するように選定されることが好ましい。
組成物は、ラミネートの製造によく適している。ラミネートを製造する任意の方法を用いることができる。一の有用な方法に含まれるのは、液体状態の接着剤を結合すべきフィルムに適用してラミネートを形成する方法である。接着剤は、例えば、エアナイフ、トライリングブレード、噴霧、ブラッシング、浸漬、ドクターブレード、ロール被覆、グラビア被覆、オフセットグラビア被覆、ロートグラビア被覆、及びそれらの組合せを含む任意の被覆方法を用いて適用できる。有用な被覆温度は65°〜170°Fに亘る。接着剤の被覆重量はラミネートに所望の特性に応じて広範囲に変り得る。有用な接着剤被覆重量は例えば0.5ポンド(lb)/3000平方フィート(ft2)(即ち、リーム(ream))から約4lbs/リーム、又は約0.5〜1.5lbs/リームすらを含む。
例の用いられる試験手順は次のものを含む。
接着剤組成物に存在するイソシアネート百分率(即ち、%NCO)は、先ずプレポリマーをトルエンに溶解し、予め定めた容量のプレポリマー/トルエン溶液を予め定めた容量のジブチルアミン溶液と反応させる。アミンはイソシアネート基と反応する。過剰のアミンは次いで塩化水素の予め定めた溶液で滴定する。次いで、塩化水素溶液の容量を組成物に存在する%NCOを計算するために用いる。
接着剤組成物の粘度は、ナンバー27のスピンドルでブルックフィールドサーモセル粘度計を用いて室温で測定する。
剥離力(peel force)は、ここに挿入する「接着剤の剥離抵抗標準試験法」の表題のASTM D1876−01に従って測定する。接着剤を1.5ミル厚みの金属化ポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルム基質上に1lbs〜7lbs/リーム(ream)の被覆重量で被覆した。被覆した接着剤組成物を次いで100フィート/分のコンベヤー速度で300ワット/インチの力を有する中圧水銀ランプからの照射に曝した。部分的に硬化した組成物を次いで第2基質にラミネートする。ピール速度は12インチ/分である。この結果はg/線状インチで報告する。
ラップシア(lap shear)は、ASTM D3163に従って測定する。これでは、試験試料は2ミル厚みのポリエチレンテレフタレート基質上の1ミル厚みの接着剤被覆に第2の2ミル厚みのポリエチレンテレフタレート基質を1インチ×1インチ基質をオーバーラップさせてラミネートした。被覆した組成物は、先ずコンベヤー速度が100フィート/分で300ワット/インチのパワーを有する中圧水銀ランプからの照射線に曝す。部分的に硬化した組成物を次いで第2基質、1.5ミル厚みのポリエチレンフィルムにラミネートする。最大荷重を測定し、結果をg/in2の単位で報告する。
プローブタック(probe tack)試験の測定は、8ミリメータ(mm)直径の球状プローブを1秒間インストロンモデル5542ユニバーサルテスターを用いて100グラムの力で試料上に下げて測定する。試料は2ミル厚みのPETフィルム基質上の1ミル厚みの接着剤の被覆である。次いでプローブは1000mm/秒の速度で下げる。プローブから接着剤を引剥がす力を「プルオフ(Pull Off)」力と称する。最大プルオフ力を測定し、g/in2の単位で報告する。
A部を調製するために、DESMOPHEN S-1011-210ポリエステルポリオール(バイエル社、ピッツバーグ、ペンシルバニア)を反応器に仕込み、130°Fに加熱する。窒素パージを始め、方法の間続ける。LUPRANATE MI単量体状2,4'-ジフェニルメタンジイソシアネート(MDI)(BASF社、シアンドット、ミシガン)を次いで2/1(NCO/OH)〜2.5/1(NCO/OH)の化学量論的NCO/OH割合で達成するに十分な量を反応器に加える。混合物を撹拌し、温度を160°F〜170°Fに上げる。反応は1〜2時間で完了する。%NCO定期的にチェックし反応が完了しているかどうか、即ちターゲット%NCOが得られているかどうかを定める。撹拌を次いで停止し、2-ヒドロキシエチル アクリレート(HEA)(ダウケミカル社、ミッドランド、ミシガン)を反応器に添加し、温度を160°F〜170°Fに保ちながら反応させる。第2反応は1〜2時間で完了する。%NCOを反応が完了しているかを定めるためにチェックする。次いで撹拌を停止し、追加のLUPRANATE MI単量体状MDIを反応器に添加する。次いで撹拌を再開し、混合物が均質になるまで継続する。A部に用いたポリエステルポリオール、MDI、及びHEAの量は表1に示してある。
A部を次のように調製する。RUCOFLEX 1011-210のポリエステルポリオール46.5gの量を反応器に仕込み、130°Fに加熱する。窒素パージを開始し、方法の間中続ける。LUPRANATE MI単量体状2,4'-ジフェニルメタンジイソシアネート(MDI)(BASF社、シアンドット、ミシガン)を46.5gの量で反応器に添加する。混合物を撹拌し、温度を160°F〜170°Fに上げる。第2反応は1〜2時間で完了する。%NCOを定期的にチェックし、反応が完了したかを定める。次いで撹拌を停止し、温度を140°Fに下げ、7gの2-ヒドロキシエチルアクリレート(ダウケミカル社、ミッドランド、ミシガン)を反応器に添加し、温度を160°F〜170°Fに維持しながら反応させる。第2反応は1〜2時間で完了する。%NCOをチェックして反応が完了したかどうかを定める。次いで撹拌を停止する。生成組成物は、140°Fで11,470センチポイズの粘度を有すると期待される。
A部を次のように調製する。RUCOFLEX 1011-210ポリエステルポリオールの41.5gの量を反応器に仕込み、130°Fに加熱する。窒素パージを開始し、反応の間中継続する。LUPRANATE MI単量体状2,4'-ジフェニルメタンジイソシアネート(MDI)(BASF社、シアンドット、ミシガン)の41.5gの量を反応器に添加する。混合物を撹拌し、温度を160°F〜170°Fに上げる。反応は1〜2時間で完了する。%NCOを定期的にチェックし、反応が完了したかどうかを定める。次いで撹拌を停止し、温度を140°Fに下げ、及び8gの2-ヒドロキシエチルアクリレート(HEA)(ダウケミカル社、ミッドランド、ミシガン)を反応器に添加し、かつ温度を160°F〜170°Fに維持しながら反応させる。第2反応は1〜2時間で完了する。%NCOをチェックして反応が完了したかを定める。次いで撹拌を停止し、9gの追加のLUPRANATE MI単量体状MDIを反応器に添加する。次いで撹拌を再開し、混合物が均質になるまで継続する。
多くのラミネート構造を、例8の接着剤組成物を用いて調製する。ラミネートは、例8の接着剤組成物を第1基質に被覆し、被覆した接着剤組成物を第2基質と接触させ、第2基質を第1基質に接着剤組成物を介して接合させ、及び一の基質を介して100フィート/分の速度で300ワット/インチのパワーでUV照射に被覆した接着剤組成物を曝す。剥離力は剥離接着試験法に従って測定する。基質及び期待される結果は表4に報告する。
多くのラミネート構造を、例8の接着剤組成物を用いて調製する。ラミネートは、第基質上に例8の接着剤組成物を被覆し、被覆した接着剤組成物を第2基質と接触させ、及び第2基質を接着剤組成物を介して第1基質に接合して調製する。次いでラミネートは通常の条件で貯蔵する。剥離力は、剥離接着試験法に従って測定する。基質及び予期される結果を表4に報告する。
Claims (14)
- ラミネートの製造方法であって、該方法は
a)接着剤組成物を調製し、
(メタ)アクリレート官能性、ポリイソシアネートプレポリマー、及びポリイソシアネート単量体を包含する第1部、
該第1部は少なくとも10重量%のイソシアネート官能性基を包含し、
ポリオールを包含する第2部、及び
場合によって第3部を包含し、
該第1部、該第2部、及び任意の該第3部の少なくとも一は光開始剤を包含し、
該調製はこれらを一緒にすることで行い、
b)第1柔軟性基質を該接着剤組成物で被覆し、
c)接着剤組成物を照射線に露出して該接着剤組成物を部分的に硬化させ、及び
d)該接着剤組成物を第2の柔軟性基質と接触させることを包含する方法。 - 該第1部が少なくとも15重量%の該ポリイソシアネート単量体を包含する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 該露出が、該接着剤組成物と該第2柔軟性基質との接触前、該接着剤組成物と該第2柔軟性基質との接触後又はそれらの組合せにおいて行われる請求項1に記載の方法。
- 該接着剤組成物が、
5重量%〜70重量%の該(メタ)アクリレート官能性ポリイソシアネートプレポリマー、
少なくとも7重量%の該ポリイソシアネート単量体、
30重量%〜95重量%の該ポリオール、及び
0.2重量%〜10重量%の該光開始剤を包含する請求項1に記載の方法。 - 該接着剤組成物の該第1部が
40重量%〜90重量%の該(メタ)アクリレート官能性ポリイソシアネートプレポリマー、及び
10重量%〜60重量%の該ポリイソシアネート単量体を包含する請求項1に記載の方法。 - 該接着剤組成物の第1部が少なくとも10重量%〜約20重量%のイソシアネート官能性基及び約0.5重量%〜約20重量%の照射線重合性基の少なくとも一を包含する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 第1部及び第2部はイソシアネート(NCO)対水酸基(OH)(NCO:OH)が約1:1〜約2:1の化学量論的比で組合せられる請求項1に記載の方法。
- 該接着剤組成物が30重量%〜70重量%の該(メタ)アクリレート官能性、ポリイソシアネートプレポリマーを包含する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 該第1及び第2柔軟性基質の少なくとも一方が、重合体フィルム、金属化重合体フィルム、ポリエチレンテレフタレート、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、金属化ポリプロピレン、金属化ポリエチレンテレフタレート、ナイロン、金属箔、紙、又はそれらの組合せを包含する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 該第1部が少なくとも15重量%のポリイソシアネート単量体を包含する請求項1に記載の方法。
- (メタ)アクリレート官能性ポリイソシアネートプレポリマー、
ポリイソシアネート単量体、
該プレポリマー及び該ポリイソシアネート単量体の組合せ重量に基づいて少なくとも10重量%のイソシアネート官能基を包含する該プレポリマー及び該ポリイソシアネート単量体の組合せ、
ポリオール、及び
光開始剤、
第1柔軟性基質;及び
第2柔軟性基質、
該接着剤組成物によって該第2柔軟性基質に結合されている該第1柔軟性基質、
を包含するラミネート。 - (a)食物製品;及び
(b)該食物製品を少なくとも部分的に包囲する請求項11のラミネートを包含する包装。 - (メタ)アクリレート官能性、ポリイソシアネートプレポリマー、及び少なくとも7重量%のポリイソシアネート単量体を包含する第1部、
該第1部は少なくとも10重量%のイソシアネート官能基を包含し、
ポリオールを包含する第2部、
場合によって、第3部、
該第1部、該第2部及び該第3部の少なくとも一は光開始剤
の反応生成物を包含する接着剤組成物。 - (メタ)アクリレート官能性、ポリイソシアネートプレポリマー、及び少なくとも7重量%のポリイソシアネート単量体を包含する第1部、
該第1部は少なくとも10重量%のイソシアネート官能性基を包含し、
ポリオールを包含する第2部、及び
場合によって、第3部、
光開始剤を包含する該第1部、該第2部及び該第3部の少なくとも一
を組合せることを包含する接着剤組成物を製造する方法。
