【発明の詳細な説明】
【0001】
【発明の属する技術分野】本発明は、管継手に関し、特
に、受口内周面に埋設した電熱線を発熱させることによ
って受口内に挿入した樹脂管を融着接合する電気融着方
式の管継手に適した構造の管継手に関する。
【0002】
【従来の技術及び発明が解決しようとする課題】従来か
ら、各種配管に用いられる樹脂管を接続する管継手とし
て電気融着継手が広く用いられている。この電気融着継
手は、接続する樹脂管が挿入される受口の内周部に電熱
線を埋設したものであって、樹脂管を接続する際には、
受口に樹脂管の端部を挿入した後、前記電熱線に通電し
て発熱させ、受口内周と樹脂管外周との接触面同士を溶
融させることにより、電気融着継手と樹脂管とを融着接
合させるように形成されている。
【0003】このようにして両者を融着接合する際に
は、両者の融着接合面に酸化膜が存在すると、酸化膜に
よって両者の溶融樹脂同士の混合が不十分となり、必要
な接合強度が得られなくなることがある。このため、電
気融着継手を使用して樹脂管の接続を行う際には、樹脂
管の融着接合面に存在する酸化膜を除去するようにして
いる。また、受口内への樹脂管の挿入量が不足すると、
すなわち、樹脂管が受口内に規定量挿入されていない状
態で溶融接合を行うと、溶融面積が不足して十分な融着
強度が得られなくなることがある。
【0004】このようなことから、電気融着継手を使用
して樹脂管を接続する際には、樹脂管の端部外周面をス
クレイプして酸化膜を除去するとともに、受口への挿入
代を見込んだ位置に標線を罫書き、この標線の位置まで
樹脂管を受口内に挿入するようにしていた。しかし、標
線を罫書き忘れたり、標線の罫書き位置を間違えたりす
ると、受口内への樹脂管の挿入量が不足することがあ
り、融着強度が低下するおそれがあった。特に、配管の
接続に電気融着継手が一般的に用いられているポリエチ
レンは、配管材料として透明なものを得ることが困難で
あり、また、他の樹脂においても、透明な合成樹脂は高
価であったり、耐候性に問題があったりして、汎用の配
管材料として用いることはできなかった。
【0005】そこで本発明は、標線を罫書き忘れたり、
標線の罫書き位置を間違えたりしても、受口内への樹脂
管の挿入状態を外部から容易に確認することができ、確
実な接合を行うことができる管継手を提供することを目
的としている。

【課題を解決するための手段】上記目的を達成するた
め、本発明の管継手は、樹脂管を接続するための受口を
備えた合成樹脂製の管継手において、前記受口における
前記樹脂管の挿入端基準位置に対応する部分に、該受口
に挿入した樹脂管の端部を外部から透視可能な透明合成
樹脂製の透視部材を設けたことを特徴としている。さら
に、前記透視部材は、受口内周に突出して樹脂管の挿入
端に当接する突起部を備えていることを特徴としてい
る。

【発明の実施の形態】図1及び図2は本発明の管継手の
一形態例を示すもので、図1は管継手の断面図、図2は
透視部材の断面図である。この管継手は、直管状の継手
本体10の両側に、樹脂管11が挿入される受口12,
12をそれぞれ有するソケット形状の電気融着継手であ
って、両受口12の内周部には、電熱線13が巻回状態
で埋設されるとともに、受口端部外面には、電熱線13
の端部が接続した一対の端子ピン14が設けられてい
る。このような電気融着継手の継手本体10は、通常、
ポリエチレンにより形成されている。
【0008】そして、継手本体10の中央部分で、前記
樹脂管11の挿入端基準位置に対応する部分には、受口
12に挿入した樹脂管11の端部を外部から透視可能な
透明合成樹脂製の透視部材15が設けられている。この
透視部材15は、大径部16及び小径部17からなる二
段円柱状透視部材本体の大径部外周に鋸歯状の凹凸から
なる係合部18を設けるとともに、透視部材本体の先
端、継手本体10の内周側に、受口内周に突出して樹脂
管11の挿入端に当接する突起部19を設けたものであ
る。また、継手本体10には、透視部材15の形状に対
応した大径部及び小径部を有する透視部材取付孔が設け
られており、外周側の大径部内周には、前記係合部18
の凹凸が係合する鋸歯状の凹凸が形成されている。
【0009】透視部材15は、大径部と小径部との間の
段差部にパッキン20を装着した状態で継手本体10の
透視部材取付孔に圧入され、前記係合部18を係合させ
ることによって継手本体10に取り付けられる。この状
態で前記突起部19が受口内周に突出し、通常のソケッ
トの中央部分に設けられているストッパーと同様に、樹
脂管11の挿入量を規制する状態となる。
【0010】透視部材15の大きさは、受口12に挿入
した樹脂管11の端部が挿入端基準位置に達したことを
確認できる大きさであればよく、透視部材15を大きく
しすぎると、継手としての強度やシール性に問題が出る
おそれがあるので、一般的に設けられるストッパーの軸
方向の長さに対して2〜4倍程度が適当である。また透
視部材15の形状は任意であり、角柱状、軸線方向に長
い扁平形状等の形状とすることができる。また、透視部
材15の外面は、継手本体10と面一になる円弧面で形
成することが好ましいが、平面であってもよく、継手本
体10の外面から凹んでいたり、突出していたりしても
よい。

り、接続する樹脂管11が受口12内の所定位置まで挿
入されたことを、透視部材15を通して外部から確認す
ることができるので、樹脂管11を基準位置まで確実に
挿入した状態で融着接合することができる。したがっ
て、標線を罫書かなくても、挿入量不足による融着強度
の低下を回避できる。さらに、透視部材15の内周側に
ストッパーとなる突起部19を設けておき、この突起部
19に管挿入端が当接するまで樹脂管11を挿入するこ
とにより、樹脂管11を挿入基準位置まで確実に挿入で
き、挿入し過ぎも防止できる。
【0012】また、透視部材15は、継手本体10に1
箇所あれば十分であるが、複数箇所に設けておいてもよ
い。さらに、継手本体10の内周に通常のストッパーが
設けられている場合は、突起部19を省略してもよく、
継手本体10のストッパーと透視部材15の突起部19
とを併用してもよい。
【0013】なお、透視部材15は、ポリカーボネート
樹脂、PMMA樹脂、MS樹脂、透明プロピレン樹脂、
透明ABS樹脂、透明ポリスチレン、透明エポキシ樹
脂、ポリアリレート、ポリサルフォン、ポリエーテルサ
ルフォン、透明ナイロン樹脂、透明ポリブチレンテレフ
タレート、透明フッ素樹脂、TPX(ポリ−4−メチル
ペンテン−1)、透明フェノキシ樹脂、ポリイミド樹脂
といった透明合成樹脂を用いて形成することができる。
透視部材15の継手本体10への取付けは、両者の樹脂
種や内圧等に応じて適宜な方法を採用することができ
る。すなわち、融着、溶着、螺着、接着、嵌着、係着、
圧着等の取付方法により、配管内部の流体が漏洩しない
ような状態で取り付ければよく、両樹脂種によっては、
一体的に射出成形することも可能である。
【0014】また、継手の形状は前述のソケットに限る
ものではなく、エルボやティーをはじめとして各種継手
形状に適用でき、さらに、電気融着継手以外の各種継手
における受口部分にも適用可能であり、透視部材15を
介して挿入状態を確認することにより、挿入量の不足に
よる接続強度の低下を未然に防止することができる。加
えて、透視部材15の耐候性等が継手本体10より劣る
場合は、管接合後の透視部材15の外面に、耐候性に優
れた塗料を塗布したり、保護シート等を貼り付けたりす
ることができ、さらに、透視部材15の外面が継手本体
10の外面より凹んでいる場合は、この部分に適宜な保
護材を充填することもできる。

【発明の効果】以上説明したように、本発明の管継手に
よれば、受口内への樹脂管の挿入状態を外部から確認す
ることができるので、挿入量不足による融着強度の低下
を回避でき、所定の接合強度で配管を接続することがで
きる。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】 樹脂管を接続するための受口を備えた合
    成樹脂製の管継手において、前記受口における前記樹脂
    管の挿入端基準位置に対応する部分に、該受口に挿入し
    た樹脂管の端部を外部から透視可能な透明合成樹脂製の
    透視部材を設けたことを特徴とする管継手。
  2. 【請求項2】 前記透視部材は、受口内周に突出して樹
    脂管の挿入端に当接する突起部を備えていることを特徴
    とする請求項1記載の管継手。
