Abstract
The arrangement, for taking separate successive samples of urine from a patient for subsequent laboratory analysis in respect of bacterial content etc., separates urine flow into three separate sections ready for transportation to the laboratory. A fitment (1) with a sealing strip (2) is attached to the seated patient, the fitment having an outlet (1a) for urine flow, which is connected to a rigid branched connecting piece (3). Urine first flows into a flexible shaped tube (4) with a free end whose top is sealed with wadding (5) and is physically higher than the rest of the device. When the U-shaped tube is so full that the level of urine is above the branch (3c) of the rigid connecting piece, flow proceeds down a vertical tube (6) with a U-shaped end into a spherical container (7), which has a breather tube (8). When the spherical container is full, the U-shaped end piece of the vertical tube acts as the holder for the third sect-on of the urine sample.
