A suspender fastener comprises a flat body member 10 and a flat tab 21, the body member having means 11 near its upper end for attachment of a supporting strap and an aperture below the attachment means for receiving the tab, the tab having a stem 22 by which it is connected to the body member below the attachment means and, below the stem a part of bulbous peripheral shape, the shape of the apertures in the body member being such that in the unused state of the fastener the edge of the part of bulbous peripheral shape of the tab, is separated from the edge of the corresponding portion of the aperture by a gap of constant cross-sectional shape and size, the profiles of the tab and aperture edges being such that fabric can be gripped between them in such a manner that increase in tension between the supporting strip and the fabric increases the grip of the fastener on the fabric, the material of which the fastener is made being resilient but not so pliable that the tab can pull out of the body member when the fastener is gripping the fabric. The profiles of the tab and aperture can have numerous different forms to enhance the grip. The attachment means shown is a slot 11 to receive the strap but several slots or any other attachment can be used. The stem 22 of the tab member has a portion 20 of reduced thickness which acts as a flexible connection.
