Abstract

830,194. Stud and socket fasteners. SCOVILL MANUFACTURING CO. Sept. 17, 1957, No. 29290/57. Class 44 A snap fastener comprises a socket 10 and stud 11, the socket being formed from a single piece of sheet metal and attached to sheet-like material 15 by means of a pronged ring 16 which is forced into engagement with an upwardly and outwardly flared breast portion 18 of said socket. The stud 11 is engaged by resilient fingers 17 constituted by a slotted central portion of the socket member, each finger having on its inner face a lengthwise extending groove 25 intermediate its side edges to deform that portion of the finger outwardly into close proximity to the breast portion 18, thus preventing any lateral movement of the fingers beyond their elastic limit.
