Abstract
996,966. Drying apparatus. H. A. PYRAH. March 22, 1962 [Dec. 22, 1960], No. 44197/60. Heading F4G. Drying apparatus for poultry manure &c. comprises a circular closed drying chamber 1 having radial breaking paddles 10 mounted on a vertical shaft 11 and driven by a motor 15. The paddles co-operate with radial stationary bars 9 to agitate and break the material to be dried by heat applied externally to the chamber wall from the combustion gases from a burner 4 positioned in an annular space formed by a spaced outer casing 3. The gases flow about the chamber wall to an outlet 5 having a suction fan (not shown) and outlet valve, to which outlet also pass the moist air and gases from the dried material via a valve 6 to control the rate of flow from the chamber. Some combustion gases may be introduced directly into the chamber through damper-controlled ports.
