Abstract

996,848. Evaporators, film-type. LUWA A.G. Oct. 23, 1962 [Nov. 2, 1961; May 24, 1962], No. 40067/62. Heading B1B. In an evaporator wherein the liquid to be evaporated, supplied through inlet 15, is distributed as a film upon the hot inner surface 25 of wall 3 by distributor ring 14, and the film then descends the surface of walls 3 and 4 by gravity, turbulence is created in the descending film by the action of oscillatable blades 16 which are loosely connected to rotor assembly 9 by rings 17 so that the free edges 24 of the blades are immersed in the liquid film, but do not exert pressure against the walls. The heating of walls 3 and 4 is effected by heating jackets 5 and 6, which may be operated independently. The vapour formed during the evaporation passes out of the evaporator through separator 2 ; and the residual liquid flows out through outlet 8.
