Abstract
991, 662. Weighing apparatus. GORDON CARTER TURKEY (SALES) Ltd. Feb. 21, 1963 [Dec. 1, 1961], No. 43041/61. Heading G1W. [Also in Division G4] In apparatus for check-weighing and sorting, each article to be weighed is supported on an individual trolley running on a monorail. The monorail has a section 1 supported by two arms, e.g. 6, equipped with strain gauges to measure the weight. Between the weighing of successive articles, a reference weight 7c (equal to that of the unloaded trolley) is supported as shown from section 1 to calibrate the electrical weighing circuit. When a trolley enters section 1 as detected by a mechanical finger or magnetic or photoelectric means, a solenoid 9 is energized to support weight 7c off the weighing section 1. Solenoid 9 is de-energized a gain after a predetermined delay or when the trolley is detected to leave the section 1 by means similar to the entrance detecting means. The weighing circuit operates trips to discharge a weighed article at one of three stations according to whether the weight is greater than, less than or within predetermined limits. Details of the discharging mechanism, and traction means for and construction of the trolleys are as described in Specification 969,864 which is referred to. The monorail may be in the form of a single closed loop or may branch into three parallel sections.
