Abstract
894,410. Conveyers for delivering at predetermined positions. SPEAKER, R. L. May 13, 1959 [May 22, 1958], No. 16400/59. Class 78 (1). An endless conveyer system comprises a series of continuously moving trolleys each supporting a platform which may be tilted laterally in either direction for discharging its load at selected stations, and means are provided to lock each platform in the transporting position until it reaches its preselected discharge station, at which the platform is unlocked. As shown, the trolleys are connected together by a chain 23 provided with guide rollers 25, and each trolley comprises a frame 17, mounted on rollers 18-21 and providedwith a shaft 39 about which brackets 41, 42 secured to the platform 2 may pivot. The platform is tipped to a discharge position when one of a pair of solenoids 88, Fig. 3, is actuated at the unloading station to bring a pulley 71 or 72 into the path of one side of a cam plate 68 secured to levers 59 pivoted to the platform 2. As the levers 59 rise, they disengage a dog 53, which is mounted on a member 52 pivoted to a bracket 55 on the platform 2, from a slot in a latch member 48 secured to the shaft 39 before stops 75 on the arms engage the platform 2 which then tilts with the cam plate. The platform is locked in either tilted position by means of the dog 53 which is spring urged into one of a pair of further slots in member 48 until the trolley passes cams 98 which engage the cam plate 68 to return the platform to the locked horizontal position. In operation, a load is fed on to a platform from a shoot 3 and is discharged at an unloading station which is preselected by an operator at 8 by means of a switchboard 10 which incorporates a memory circuit such that, on arrival of the platform at the selected station, one of the pair of solenoids is actuated in accordance with which station 6, 7 is empty, this being determined by means of a photoelectric cell.
