A contact for a screen 5 mounted in an electrical insulator consists of a stud 7 slidably mounted in a socket 6 under the action of a spring 8 pressing on to the base of the socket which is embedded in the insulator and connected to the screen. Stud 7 is pressed by spring 8 against holding ring 9 bolted to wall 10. The contact may be used for earthing when an insulated conductor is passed through a conducting component, the relative positions of which may vary slightly.
