986,965. Doffing-apparatus. C. EUGEN MAIER METALLVERARBEITUNG G.m.b.H. Jan. 15, 1964 [Jan. 16, 1963], No. 1801/64. Heading D1D. In doffing apparatus for spinning machines which includes a cop-gripper 18 raised and lowered by a lever 12 driven by an eccentric rod 8, in order to provide initially a maximum force to detach the cop, a degree of play is provided in the connection 14 between the rod and lever and the rod carries a cam 11 acting from below on the lever when the latter is in its lowermost position, upon which cam the lever rolls during the lifting movement. The apparatus is of the kind which is mounted on a carriage 3 running by rollers e.g. 4 on rails 5 on the spinning-frame. The lever 12 is pivoted at 13, and has a bolt 14 in an elongated hole in each member of a fork 9 on the rod 8 while a spring 15 extends between bolt 14 and fork 9. The lever 9 terminates in a fork 12<SP>1</SP> receiving a bolt 16 on the gripper 18 which has a second holt 19, the two holts being guided in slots 20 in a plate 21 hinged to the carriage, so that as the latter moves on while the gripper is removing the cop, the plate can swing out of the vertical against the action of a spring away from a stop, the connections at 13 and 14 being such as to allow this to take place. The gripper preferably operates pneumatically.
