Abstract

983,471. Cladded frames. TENSILE PRODUCTS Ltd. July 3, 1963, No. 26431/63. Heading E1J. In a window, door &c. frame comprising a core 10, 11 Fig. 1, 33, 34, Fig. 4 having a cladding attached to it which includes a channelshaped portion in transverse section the flanges 14, Fig. 1 or 36 Fig. 4, of which are provided with inturned lips 17 or 38 to straddle and snap over the associated core member, at a corner of the frame 12 the dimension between the inner faces of the flanges 14 of one side cladding is such that the cladding of the top or bottom member can enter between the faces of the flanges 14 when the lip portions of the flanges 14 are cut away so that, preferably, the end of the bottom (or top) member abuts against the web 21 of the side cladding 12 the depth of the cutaway portion enables the end of the side member to lie flush with the web of the bottom member 13 at the corners the core members form a mitre joint and are held together by an angle piece, the limbs 31 32 of which are a jamming fit in the hollow C-section core members 10, 11 and may be additionally secured further by screws. The lips are rebated at 30 to receive the glazing fixing. Fig. 4 shows the frame for lining a window opening and the flanges are extended backwardly as at 41, 49, and provided with bent over portions 42, 50 directed towards each other and these bent over portions 42 of the wider cladding are cut away to accommodate the end of the adjacent narrower cladding. In both cases of Figs 1 and 4 the flanges of the wider cladding have internal ribs to centralise the core member, while the flanges of the narrow cladding contact the edges of the core member. Specification 947,904 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 947,904.
