Abstract

1,145,821. Door and window frames. TIMBER RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION. 6 April, 1966 [6 Jan., 1965], No. 612/65. Heading E1J. The frame members of a door or window frame have on their external surfaces perpendicular to the door and window, rebated edges 18, into which the edge portions of architraves 29, or slips, tiles or like furnishing elements are accommodated when the frame is fixed in position in the opening, so as to overlap the face of the surrounding wall 28. The rebated frame member 45, Fig. 8 may be provided with grooves 46 and the architraves 47 with tongues 48 which fit into the grooves 46 alternatively. The tongues may be omitted and the grooves filled with cement &c. The architraves may have recesses in the rear surface to accommodate electrical conductors. The invention is convenient for two doors meeting at right angles (Fig. 5 not shown) or for two doors secured to opposite sides of the same partition and lying in alignment (Fig. 6 not shown).
