Abstract
983,254. Protective arrangements. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Feb. 16, 1962 [Feb. 18, 1961], No. 5996/62. Heading H2K. An impedance relay arrangement, e.g. for use as a starting relay in distance protective system, comprises a transductor having an A.C. winding 4 energized in accordance with the current in the protected circuit and two D.C. windings 3, 5, both of which are energized via rectifiers 1, 11 by a component proportional to the voltage of the protected circuit and at least one of which is energized in addition by a component dependent on the current in the protected circuit. One of the D.C. windings is provided with a shunt impedance, e.g. a capacitor 13, to eliminate mutual inductance between the D.C. windings and the arrangement provides an elliptical impedance characteristic. The current component is introduced into the winding 5 by a transformer 8 and a resistor 10 in series with the rectifier 11. A similar arrangement may be provided for the winding 3, Fig. 2 (not shown). The relay 15 has its operating winding 14 connected to the A.C. winding 4 or, as shown, to a further A.C. winding 6.
