Abstract

1,025,138. Rectifying. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. March 5, 1965 [March 6, 1964], No. 9447/65. Heading H2F. A rectifying circuit is protected against a sudden rise in output voltage when a load is removed by a shunt circuit including a thyristor which is fired when the output voltage rises above a predetermined value. A selfexcited transductor controlled bridge rectifier (Fig. 1, not shown), has thyristors 19 in series with resistors 20 across two of its transductorrectifer legs and a third thyristor across the D.C. smoothing choke. A conjunction transistor oscillator (Fig. 3, not shown) supplied from the rectifying circuit output oscillates only when the output voltage exceeds the predetermined value, and fires the three thyristors through a transformer coupling.
