Abstract
Fabrics consisting wholly or partly of cellulose fibres are padded with an aqueous solution containing (1) a resin-forming composition known to give finishes having improved properties, (2) an acid catalyst, (3) a reactive dyestuff containing a reactive halogen atom or labile group and (4) an alkali catalysed modifying agent for cellulose, thereafter baked and subsequently treated with an alkali. The specified modifying agents (4) are disodium tris-(b -sulphatoethyl)-sulphonium inner salt (preferred), divinyl sulphone, di-(b -hydroxy-ethyl)-sulphone, di-epoxides, dichloro-propanol and halogens-1 : 3 : 5-triazines. Many components (1)-(3) are listed. The padded material is preferably dried at 75-125 DEG C. before baking at 120-200 DEG C. The baked material is then preferably treated in a 5-20% alkali metal hydroxide bath at 10-35 DEG C., neutralised and soaped. An example is given.
