Abstract
981,890. Refrigerating. RUBANOX. May 12, 1961 [July 13, 1960; March 7, 1961], No. 17446/61. Heading F4H. An evaporator, condenser or other heatexchange plate 1 formed with an internal passageway 2 having outlet and inlet openings 10, 11 extending to an edge of the plate is connected to a fluid pipe 4 extending parallel to the edge and formed in its side wall with an opening aligned with one of the openings 10, 11. As shown in Fig. 4, the outlet 10 is aligned with opening 25 in pipe 4, the latter being soldered at 24 to the plate 1 around a locating sleeve 22 in the openings. As shown in Fig. 5, a capillary inlet pipe 6 extends along pipe 4 and through opening 27 therein into inlet 11, the pipe and plate being soldered together around locating sleeve 27<SP>1</SP>. Opening 11 is flattened at 26 around the end of pipe 6. As shown in Fig. 7, the edge to which the openings extend is on a tab 29 defined by a U-shaped cut-out 28 in plate 1 and bent out of the plane of the plate. As shown in Fig. 11, only the opening associated with the inlet 11 is formed in the side of pipe 4. In a further modification, only the opening associated with the outlet is formed in the side of the pipe. In a still further modification, the passageway is formed by two vertical concentric tubes interconnected at their lower ends and having the pipe 4 traversing their upper ends with the openings leading into the respective tubes.
