Abstract

977,375. Medicament applying devices. STERLING DRUG Inc. May 9, 1963 [May 21, 1962], No. 18353/63. Headings A5R and AST. [Also in Division F1] A medicament applying device comprises a pressurized aerosol container and an applicator. The applicator comprises stem 10, at one end of which is situated applicator tip 14 and at the other end a hand grip for holding the aerosol container 22. The hand grip comprises bowl 18, finger grip 24 and projection 34 having projecting tip 38 provided with notches 40, and passageway 42 leading to bore 12 of stem 10. A valve gasket 46 having apertures 50 is attached to container 22 by ferrule 52 having a downward skirt portion 54, which skirt rests on the unapertured central portion of gasket 46. In use the container 22 is slipped into bowl 18 and the projection tip 38 extends into skirt 54. To eject contents from container 22, the grip 24 and container 22 are gripped and pressed towards each other. On this movement, the projection tip 38 extends through skirt 54 and distorts gasket 46, thus allowing passage of the contents from container 22 to applicator tip 14 via apertures 50, notches 40, passages 42 and 32 and bore 12.
