A container with a sifter top comprises a neck 11 having a filling opening 12, inner and outer closing members 17, 16 for the neck opening, each with dispensing apertures 31, 21 which are movable by relative rotation in and out of registry to permit or prevent dispensing of material from the container, the outer closing member accommodating the inner, ribs 15 in the neck 11 and flanges 28 on the member 17 to hold the neck and the inner member against relative rotation when interengaged, the flanges 28 being so shaped as to form means for effecting interengagement of the neck and inner member on axial movement of the inner member and a circumferential lip 22 in the member 16 co-operating with a circumferential ridge 13 on the neck 11 for preventing disengagement of the member 17 from the neck. The outer member 16 is made of resilient material, e.g. polythene, to enable the lip 22 to pass over the ridge 13 when the members are assembled. All the members may or may not be made of the same material. The member 17 is first nested in the member 16, as permitted by the resilience of the latter. The top 26 of the member 17 is slightly cambered and when the nested members are pushed home over the neck 11 the camber is flattened out, resulting in a tight seal around the upper edge of the container neck. The neck 11 has protrusions 14 which enter spaces between protrusions 25 from the outer member 16, the spaces being such as to allow sufficient rotation of the outer member for the aperture 21 therein to cover and uncover the apertures 31 in the non-rotatable inner member 17.
