976,515. Transporting special loads. AIRTECH Ltd. Jan. 9, 1963 [Nov. 22, 1961], No. 41807/61. Heading B7B. [Also in Division B8] A non-collapsible aluminium alloy container for the transportation of goods by aircraft comprises a floor and roof C, D side walls A, B and end walls E, F, each of which is constructed by riveting, spot-welding or adhering a corrugated stiffening sheet between two sheet metal skins bounded by edge channels. Fig. 2 shows wall A with skins 14, 15 supported by vertical channels 13 and with a corrugated sheet 16 therebetween. One or both end walls E, F are detachable by means of bolts 52 which pass through flanges 501 and end frames 40, and are sealed by a rubber strip 51. A door G, preferably of glass fibre, may be fitted in end wall F, mounted on hinges 10, 11 and sealed when closed by a rubber strip 60, Fig. 3. Strengthening transverse beams 25 of extruded aluminium alloy in floor C have sockets 27 for accommodating the spigots of a detachable running gear as described in Specification 895,689. Ducts 21 and 37 formed by recesses in the inner skins 14 and 31 respectively provide accommodation for lighting and heating cables. Corner castings 35 provide lashing and lifting points and slabs of thermal insulating material 53, Fig. 2, of foamed polystyrene, foamed polyurethane or glass wool may be introduced between the corrugations. Two containers may be attached end to end by bolts 52, as described in Specification 883,960, when the adjacent end walls have been removed.
