Abstract

975,747. Oven doors. BLOXWICH LOCK & STAMPING CO. Ltd. Nov. 11, 1963 [Nov. 27, 1962], No. 44762/62. Heading F4W. [Also in Division E2] A drop-down door for an oven or refrigerator has at each side a pivotal and releasable engagement with a fixed frame and is loaded by a spring acting on pegs moving with the door in arcuate slots in the frame concentric with the pivotal axis of the door. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, a door 10 is pivoted at each side by a pin 12 resting in an open vertical slot 13 in the oven frame 15. The pin 12 is attached to the door by an arm 11 which has a downwardly extending portion 16 having a downwardly facing slot 17 engaging a peg 18 moving in an arcuate slot 19 concentric with the pin 12. The peg 18 is loaded by a compression spring 23 and mounted in the lower end of a rod 21 whose upper end is slidable in a trunnion 22 on the frame 15. The compression spring acts between the trunnion 22 and a collar adjacent the peg 18. The door is disengaged from the frame by lifting it vertically as shown in dotted lines. The arcuate slot 19 may have cam portions 26 to position the door. A tension spring may replace the compression spring 23. In a further embodiment (Figs. 8, 6) the door 31 carries at each side a lug having a sleeve 32 adapted to fit over a flat bar 33 keyed on a horizontal spindle 34 rotatable in the oven frame. An arm 36 is keyed to the spindle 34 and carries a peg 37 working in an arcuate slot 38 concentric with the spindle 34. The peg 37 is mounted in the lower end of a bar 39 of which the upper end is slotted to engage a fixed pin 41 and a compression spring 42 acts between the pin 41 and the peg 37. The flat bar 33 is disengaged from the door lug by pressing a button 47.
