972,185. Locomotive stokers. INTERNATIONAL COMBUSTION (HOLDINGS) Ltd. Dec. 29, 1960 [March 2, 1960], No. 7458/60. Heading F4B. A mechanical stoker for a locomotive comprises a fuel hopper 3 located at one side of the locomotive, a feed worm 5 mounted transversely of the locomotive, a steam engine 10 situated at the opposite side of the locomotive to the hopper 3 which drives the worm 5 through a gear-box 4 and chain 8 to feed the grate 2 of the fire box 1. A fan 9 is provided to force combustion air through a duct to the grate 2.
