Abstract
971,084. Electromagnetic relays; electrically released switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 6, 1962 [Nov. 9, 1961 (2)], Nos. 40184/61 and 40186/61. Heading H2B. Sealed magnetic contact devices are secured by the projecting ends of their contact reeds to flanges which are polepieces of a magnetic core on which the relay winding is disposed between the flanges. In Figs 1 to 3, sealed magnetic contact devices 6 are mounted with their reeds 8, 9 clamped against insulating strip 14 on the edges of the polepieces 3, 4 of the core 1 on which the winding 2 is supported. The insulating clamping members 7 are retained by spring clips 11 having legs 12 engaging shoulders 13 of the polepieces. Each member 7 has projections (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) to locate the parts on the polepieces and pins 27 which pass through openings in return connectors 9a. The relay is mounted in a magnetic shield 26 and is provided with flux concentrators 23 at each end of the core. In Fig. 6, a remanent magnetic core 31 has two windings 35, 36 and three poles 33, 34, 37 arranged so that after like pulses the remanent magnetism holds the contacts closed and after unlike pulses the reeds 38, 39 repel each other.
