968,858. Typewriters &c. PAILLARD S.A. Dec. 22, 1960 [Jan. 20, 1960], No. 44085/60. Drawings to Specification. Heading B6F. In a typewriter wherein the type bars are operated by electromagnets to effect printing a device is provided to automatically produce an electric impulse to print a horizontal line above or below each character before it is typed. The device produces an electric impulse between each character printing impulse to cause an electromagnet to operate a type-bar to print a horizontal line above or below where the next character is to be printed. The line printing type-bars either do not actuate the letter spacing escapement or a complementary device is provided to prevent carriage movement.
