Abstract
1,014,921. Communicating with the blind. F. BRAUN. Feb. 2, 1962 [Nov. 4, 1960], No. 38073/60. Heading G5G. [Also in Division B6] Braille characters are printed by using a type-casting machine to produce type slugs bearing the braille characters, setting the type slugs in a forme by locking them in a chase, printing from the forme on to a sheet using an ink, dusting the printed sheet with resinous powder which adheres to the ink, and heating the resin/ink mixture to produce the raised characters. A standard type casting machine may be used to produce the type-set braille, said machine using a perforated paper ribbon feed or a keyboard. The raised braille characters produced by the lead type are made up of solid dots.
