Abstract
<PICT:0968318/C1/1> An incandescent electric lamp, especially of the sealed beam type, has a pair of lead-in conductors extending through two adjacent openings in the wall of the lamp envelope and secured to conducting thimbles which serve to seal the openings, at least one of the conductors having a fusible section adjacent the outer end, a hollow sleeve of insulating material, e.g. glass, surrounding the outer portion of the lead-in conductor including the fusible section and having one end anchored in the associated thimble. In the form shown, the fusible section 20 is butt-welded between parts 13a, 13b of the lead-in conductor, the whole being surrounded by a glass tube 21. The part 13a and tube 21 are secured in the thimble 7 by a fusible pellet of sintered brass solder and borate glass flux which is placed in the thimble and heat applied thereto.
