[Also in Division B5] A mat or carpet of fibrous material has over part of its surface a sheet of thermoplastic material, e.g. p.v.c. secured to the fibrous material by fusion of selected areas of the plastic. A car carpet is described having a woollen, nylon or polyethylene terephthalate pile on a hessian backing. The hessian may be latex or rubber backed and have an underfelt attached thereto. The marginal area only of the thermoplastic sheet may be fused.
