Abstract

961,801. Die-holders. J. BOBST & FILS S.A. Jan. 1, 1963 [Jan. 11, 1962], No. 147/63. Heading B3Q. [Also in Divisions B4 and D1] The cutting or corrugating tool of a platen press is held in its working position against the upper bed 1 by suction through an arrangement of communicating channels 12 connected to a vacuum pump. As shown, a tool for cutting paper or cardboard has knives 8 spaced by wooden blocks 7 on a plate 6, the plate being fitted within a frame 5 movable by hand over rollers 2 along the bed of the press. A plate 10, which is secured to the bed 1, is provided with suction channels 12 perforated with holes 14, seals 11 being provided around the edges of the frame to prevent leakage when suction is applied; alternatively the plate 10 may be omitted and the channels formed in the bed itself: A thin protective sheet is provided behind the plate 6. Instead of a cutting tool, a tool provided with a corrugated working surface may be employed for working flat sheet material into corrugated sheets.
