Abstract

[Also in Division D1 Each side of a cloth-cutting press 10 is provided with a laying-up and feeding apparatus comprising a table having upper and lower roller-type supports 21, 22 which are movable vertically by hydraulic rams 30 to bring either one into line with the press, the arrangement being such that when the lower support on one side is in line with the press the upper support on the opposite side is also in line with the press. The cloth is fed alternately from each side of the press and is supported by a cutting table or forme cutter 24 movable over the supports by a head 16 attached to an endless drive 18, the cutting table being fed from the upper support on one side to the lower support on the other and then withdrawn again to the original position. After the table has been raised for unloading the cut material, the cutting table 24 is conveyed over rollers 23 to a position beneath feed rolls 15 where the material on the rolls is attached to the cutting table by clamps 26. The cutting table is then driven towards the press and the material which is withdrawn from the rolls cut at the required length by a blade 31. The cutting table is then lowered to the level of the press.
