Abstract
Maleic anhydride is obtained by oxidation of benzene in presence of a catalyst comprising oxides of Mo, V, P, Co and (at least one of) Na, Li, Ca and Sr in specified proportions.ALSO:An oxidation catalyst comprises oxides of Mo and V in the weight ratio range of 0,4-1,0 to 1,1, a compound, e.g. an oxide, of Na, Li, Ca or Sr in an amount of 1-5% of Mo and V oxides, an oxide of P in an amount not more than that corresponding to the tribasic salt of the alkali or alakline earth metal and an oxide of Co in an amount of 0,5-2,0 times the amount of said alkali or alkaline earth metal oxide. Ceramically bonded fused porous alumina is the specified carrier.
