Abstract

957,067. Nozzles. S. J. GREEN. Oct. 19, 1962 [Aug. 3, 1961], No. 28162/61. Heading B2F. The nozzle 1 on a hose supplying petrol or other liquid from a pump to a tank, has means for preventing drops falling from the nozzle on withdrawal thereof from the tank opening 6, comprising a sleeve 4 of absorbent material, such as foamed polyurethane, mounted on a coil spring 5 which engages a fined stop 2 whereby it can move relatively to the nozzle. Normally, the sleeve protrudes beyond the end of the nozzle 1, but in a tank filling operation the end of the nozzle is thrust into the tank opening 6 beyond the sleeve, thus compressing the spring 5. On withdrawal, the end of the nozzle retreats within the sleeve, and any drops of liquid falling from the nozzle are absorbed by the sleeve.
