Abstract

A cosmetic in the form of a cream or lotion comprises sodium bicarbonate, tartaric acid cetostearyl alcohol, white soft paraffin liquid paraffin and castor oil or other vegetable oil. Preferably the preparation includes up to 2% of sodium tartrate and sodium bitartrate. The water of recrystallization present in these compounds reacts with the tartaric acid to evolve carbon dioxide.
