[Also in Division F2] In a clamp operated by a driving member in the form of a rotary cam lever the lever G has on the head thereof projections in the form of radial cams H which when the lever is rotated impart a displacement to the member E which is in the form of a slidable plunger around which the lever G rotates, the plunger being provided with a pin F which is in contact with the cams on the lever G. As shown in Fig. 1 the body of the clamp comprises a pair of plates B between which are held blocks C to mount the clamp pad J and plunger E which is slidably mounted and carries the pin F. The rear face of the head of the lever G bears on the face of a block C, the plunger E being held against the body by a spring K. On rotation of the lever G the cams H are pushed against the pin F to thereby advance the plunger into clamping position. The clamp pad J is adjustable either by screw or cam means. In a modification the arrangement is such that the jaw carried by the plunger is pulled towards the fixed jaw. In another modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the clamping member, independent of the main body, is mounted on an assembly jig and arranged to clamp by remote control. In another modification, Fig. 5, the clamp comprises a base-plate B which carries two side members L having elongated slots S in which a clamp arm D is pivotally mounted by means of a pin T. An edgewise cam Q is provided on the side of the cam lever G. A spring K holds the clamp arm in such manner that a pin R which projects downwardly from the arm is held against the edgewise cam Q. The first movement of the lever G moves the clamp arm D away from the lever from M to N, by moving the lever still further, the plunger E rises, forcing down the pivotally mounted clamp arm from points O to P to clamp the work.
