951,098. Harvesting machines. S STOKLAND. Nov. 4, 1960 [Nov. 7, 1959; Jan. 11, 1960], No. 38062/60. Heading A1F. A harvesting machine comprises a reciprocating cutter 12, shovel-like conveyers 69 guided by rods 70 moving along a cam track 66 delivering the cut crop to a thrashing device consisting of a rotating drum 15 having a stretched shell 16 of a resilient material which co-operates with rods 30 extending axially of the drum and spaced so that grain and chaff pass between them to screw conveyers 41 and 41<SP>1</SP> and thence to pipe 43 connected to a fan 44 which blows the grain and chaff to a cyclone separator (not shown). The straws pass from between the drum and rods and fall to the ground The shell of the drum is stressed axially and may be supported at intervals from the interior by spring loaded rods 25 with heads 26. The rods 30 may consist of elastic material or may be radially movable against the action of a spring. A reel for deflecting the crop towards the cutter is rotatably mounted on a shaft 54 whose height above the cutter is adjustable. All the rotating parts of the machine are driven via belts and chains from a shaft 76 connected to the power take off of a tractor to which the machine is hitched. The cutters are driven from a crank 82 and rod 84.
