Abstract
972,086. Harvesting machines. A. B. GRONBERG. Oct. 31, 1961 [Oct. 31, 1960], No. 38894/61. Heading A1F. A harvester adapted to be mounted on a tractor comprises a flail cutter 1 which feeds the harvested crop to a disintegrator 4 in the form of rotatable knives 23 which co-operate with knives 24, the cutters 1 and 4 being mounted in a casing 7 adjustable to vary the height of the cutter 1 above the ground by means of hydraulic cylinders 10, 11. The harvester is adapted to harvest corn by providing a threshing cylinder 3 and concave 2 between the cutters 1 and 4 and feeding the crop to a cyclone separator 5 where the straw is discharged through outlet 35 by means of a fan 27 the drive shaft 28 of which carries a rotatable disc 31 adjustable vertically below tube 33, the grain being discharged into sacks or on to a conveyer through outlets 38, 39. The flail cutter 1 may be replaced by a cutter bar in which case a screw device is provided to feed the crop to the threshing cylinder. The cutters 1, 4 and cylinder 3 may be driven from the tractor or by an engine mounted in the casing 7.
