Abstract
950,064. Liquefied gas converters. NORMALAIR Ltd. Dec. 1, 1960 [Dec. 2, 1959], No. 40863/59. Heading F4P. A heat insulated liquid oxygen container 9, Fig. 1, is charged through the working nozzle of an injector 2 in the filling line 6 during which the ejector creates a vacuum in an ambient air heated container 1, the upper end of which is connected to the ejector by lines 3, 5 and a warming coil 4 whilst the lower end of the container 1 is connected by a line 7 and a non-return valve 8 to the feed line 6 resulting in the container 1 being charged with liquid oxygen. When charging of container 9 is completed, the liquid oxygen is warmed to its equilibrium temperature by bubbling therethrough oxygen vapour generated in container 1 and passing through line 3, coil 4, line 5 and ejector 2. Oxygen vapour also gains access to the gas space of container 9 through a pressure closing valve 12A and a valve 11 until such time as valve 12A closes. In use liquid oxygen is forced from the container 9 reversely through injector 2, line 5 and a differential check valve 13 to a supply line 10 containing a vaporizing coil (not shown). On decreasing consumer demand oxygen from the gas space of container 9 passes through valve 11 and a pressure opening valve 12B to the line 10; the valve 13 being closed. In a modification, the pressure build-up circuit comprises the ejector 2, coil 4, a heat exchanger 20 within the container 9, a line 22, a pressure closing valve 30, a line 32, a non- return valve 34 and the combined vent and build-up valve 11 which is connected to the gas space of container 11 by a line 31. When valve 30 automatically closes demand is met from the gas space through line 31, valve 11, line 32 and a differential check valve 13. Specifications 846,799 and 938,261 are referred to.
