948,237. Coated multi-ply fabrics. F. A. (MEMBRANES) Ltd. Dec. 13, 1962 [Jan. 16, 1962], No. 1505/62. Heading B2E. [Also in Division D1] A waterproof material comprises an assembly of a layer of fabric loosely woven from glass fibre yarns and a juxtaposed mat of heterogeneously arranged mineral fibres, the assembly being coated with bitumen or bituminous material. The mat, e.g. of short glass fibres and synthetic resin, may be strengthened with continuous glass fibres arranged in a spaced parallel relationship. The coating may contain a filler material such as powdered limestone or slate flour which constitutes up to 7¢% of the weight of the bituminous material or milled glass fibres which constitutes up to 2% of the weight of the bituminous material. The material may be produced by bringing the fabric 10 and mat 11 into juxtaposition and passing the assembly through a bath 14 of molten bitumen or bituminous material. Each side of the material may then be coated with chalk from dispensers 18.
