Abstract
947,451. Moulding-machines. PETTIBONE MILLIKEN CORPORATION. May 28, 1962 [June 2, 1961], No. 20461/62. Heading B3F. Apparatus for unloading cores from a coremaking machine comprises a stationary framework, a guide frame movable vertically thereon and supporting a carriage movable horizontally on the guide frame between one advanced position underlying a core on the moulding machine, and a retracted position. In a shellcore moulding machine 12, Fig. 1, cores C are moulded in a two-part box 18, 20, cured by a heater 24 and after opening of the box &c. are left supported on the ejector pins 26. Fingers 54 of the core unloading machine 10 positioned in front of the moulding machine are moved forwardly to straddle the pins 26 and underlie the cores, the fingers are then moved upwardly to lift the cores from the pins, retracted rearwardly to lift the cores from the pins, retracted rearwardly to remove the cores from the moulding machine and then moved downwardly to their initial position whereat the cores may be removed. The fingers 54 are adjustably supported by a carriage 52 which is longitudinally movable on the guide frame 94 by rocker arms 180 actuated by an oil cylinder 216 and the guide frame 94 is itself vertically movable by an oil-operated piston 92. The drive mechanism 186, 182, 180, 148, &c. to the carriage from the cylinder 216 is such as to impart a deceleration to the carriage as it approaches either of its extreme positions. Limit switches S 1 -S 4 Fig. 7, cause the air and oil valves Vo, Va1 Va2 to function in the correct sequence.
