Abstract
819,475. Moulding-machines. BIRMIDAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Oct. 16, 1956 [July 16, 1955], No. 20656/55. Class 83 (1). A moulding-machine comprises a single-arm angularly-movable about one end and carrying near its other end a mould or core-box, a part of which is slidably mounted for movement with respect to the arm and is movable to open and close the box by fluid-pressure operated means, the box being adapted in one position of the arm to be clamped against a core-blowing head for curing or hardening the mould or core material after blowing. The arm 10 is rotatable above a vertical axis 12 by a handle 33, and carries a core-box 17, 18, the movable part 18 being slidable on guides 19 by a pneumatic ram 20. A stripper plate 23 is also slidable on the guides 19 and may be urged forwards by an air cylinder 24. Side-draw parts 18<SP>1</SP> of the box, Fig. 9, are moved during opening or closing of the box by inclined plungers 31 secured to the fixed box-part 17. When moved beneath the blowing-head 14, the box is clamped thereagainst by a pneumatic jack 15. The core-box may include electric or gas heating elements for curing or hardening the mould, or provision may be made for hardening by other means such as CO 2 gas. The manual controls of the machine are mechanically-interlocked so that they are operated in the correct sequence. Alternatively, the machine may perform an automatic cycle.
